New Zealand's modern art loving pistonheads are on tenterhooks, eagerly awaiting Wednesday's unveiling of BMW's "art cars" at the Auckland Museum. The traveling exhibit includes Bimmers modified by uber-pimpers Andy Warhol, Roy Liechtenstein, Frank Stella and Ken Done. (7er.com has the full collection here.) IMHO, BMW hasn't produced a really compelling art car since Esther Mahlangu's BMW 525i. I make this observation in the hopes that TTAC's culturally aware audience can suggest some contemporary artists who should have a bash at painting one of Chris Bangle's cubist-influenced cars. For my part. I'd like to see a Z4 tagged by Jazz83.

H.R. Giger could do crazy things to a 6 series…
I’d like to see any BMW either decorated or rethought by Jonathan Ive, the industrial designer behind the Apple products from the MacBook Pro I’m currently typing on to the iPod I’m currently listening to. I envision Ive’s 335i would make liberal use of unique materials in the body panes such as glossy and translucent body panels that would enhance the flame surfacing. I know that Chris Bangle’s designs aren’t universally praised by TTAC readers, I would at least make a trip to MOMA to see my fantasy art car.

Welcome back my friend, to the show that never ends.
You know, this one time I was watching WWF Raw and Vince McMahon bought a tuxedo for Mick Foley and pretended to like him. Then, he unceremoniously screwed Mick Foley and cost a match. When Mick Foley asked Vince why he threw away their friendship, Vince said: “You can’t make kaka shine.”
I believe this sentence applies to anything 5-series. Some things are just a lost cause.
Without question, let’s get Coop a commission.
I like RF's taste in BMW art cars. Go to motorlegends.com , and click on art cars to see the amazing Yugo Next exhibit. Also have Ellis D's famous microbus, among other stuff.
