“It’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slowly,” is a common aphorism in these parts. But slow racing? The UK’s Slow Car Club is for drivers who want to race “without going to all the bother of buying a fast car, getting a racing license, or doing any tuning.” South Dakota’s SC (Slow Car) Racing club shares their lack of motivation. Organizer Trevor Puckett proclaims “We are not out to have the loudest car, the brightest underglow, the better brand name, or who can break the law the most in one night, we are all about a driver's skillz, and to have fun.” Our news peg for this story? The Slow Car Club holds its next event on September 2; they need all the advance warning they can get.

That looks so unmistakbly boring.
That’s nothing. I was once forced to attend an anti-race. Three hicks on tractors were crossing a parking lot, with the aim to be the last to cross the finish line. The only rule was once the race began, you couldn’t come to a complete stop, lest you be disqualified.
The only interesting part of it was just how long a delay they could get between piston firings.
Tractor anti-races? And I thought the Brits could be quirky. Then again, we have lawnmower racing here on this side of the pond…

This racetrack in Indiana runs a 4 cylinder pure stock race where you are not told the course or the rules until just before the race. I saw them run once where the second person across the line was the winner. Spectacular to watch them all slide to a stop until the people in back decided maybe they could push someone across.
Yeah… Um… This is just non-sense. But if it makes others happy, more power to them!
