Interest-free loans haven't helped. Incentives up to $4K haven't helped. Maybe bribing the dealers will. Bloomberg reports that an internal GM memo states they're giving dealers cash awards to try to stop the seemingly inexorable sales and market share erosion. The General will give dealers a $250 bonus for every car they sell from August 23 through the end of the month. The dealers, in turn, "can use the money to boost discounts offered directly to consumers through most of September." Or they can just keep the money. In the memo, Buick, Pontiac and GMC general manager Jim Bunnell said, "We have an excellent opportunity to regain our momentum." Sorry Jim, but the last time your tri-division had momentum GM execs wore hats.

sounds like $4250 in incentives then.
Maybe wearing hats would get GM back on track.
How does this differ from Honda past practices; I think it’s called ‘dealer cash’?

Now if only GM sold a $4250 car, I might be interested.

Be patient the years not over yet.
GM does sell at $4250 car, it’s called the Aveo and made by Daewoo of Korea.
If they had a vehicle that I was remotely interested in, that “buck-two-eighty” sounds OK…

I said that to the wife this evening…one of our cars might just be due for a replacement, and I was saying prices have no where to go but down. Wait’ll it’s freezing in January and they’ll be offering buy one get one free.
My wife and I are looking at the Torrent – $3,000 rebate and supplier pricing for a surprisingly nice vehicle.
I’ve owned a Mazda, and this would be replacing our Corolla. Have to tell you, we buy both imports and domestic, and I just don’t understand how closed-minded people are about domestic vehicles.
Just as well – makes them cheaper for me to buy.
Once in a while I do contract work and they give me a car. Recently had an Impala and in a way if you don’t have to pay for it it seems OK as it is nice to drive a car one can throw around and not give a sh*t about what happens to it. Sort of like the old square Bonneville’s used to be.
So because of reading here i go to the website and see how much it costs. Holy fu(*, 30K+?
No way that I would pay more then half that for it.
cool im 250 dollars closer to a zo6

im sure the car you were given to drive was a base Impala…i dont know what you priced on the “website”…they can be purchased for around $19000 USD plus tax. That is about the same as a new Camry LE. I suggest you look at something with an open mind.

Classic. I actually said, “Ouch!” outloud.
