Does the American Family Association have a Canadian chapter? If so, someone better alert them to avoid all cars built by union labor there. Marketwire is carrying a news release from PFLAG Canada (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) that the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) union has donated $25k from CAW's Social Justice Fund to the organization. CAW President Buzz Hargrove explained: "The donation recognizes the important work of PFLAG and underscores the ongoing commitment of the CAW to creating a positive environment for LGBT members and their families." I don't know what kind of car American Family Association chairman Donald Wildmon drives, but he'd better be careful. Not counting the Canadian-built Fords he's busy boycotting, CAW labor builds 15 other vehicles for the U.S. market. I'm sure Donnie wouldn't want to be exposed as a hypocrite of some sort.

Nope, unions aren’t political. No sir….
This CAW donation is just the way we do things in Canada, we are a caring Nation and very different from other countries in that respect, I say good for you CAW! Keep going and Canadians will say well done!
I can’t imagine this being at the top of many of the thousands of about to be terminated CAW members’ agenda.
Left-lib politicians always curry favor with other people’s money.

Very true. And what’s more: The huge majority of CAW members would find this donation obscene regardless of what they might say in public. Gotta love 21st century democracy, people are afraid to say what’s on their minds, not so much because they will offend some minority group but more so because of the predictable, hysterical and caustic reaction that inevitably comes from Left-Lib politicians and their cronies. Watch this space!
Gardiner Westbound :Thousands about to be terminated?News to me.
See that sweet little Impala in the photo.Oshawa is working O.T to meet the American demand.America doesn’t seem to mind opening thier wallets or purses for our car.Hey 25K seems a small price to pay eh?
Thousands about to be terminated? News to me. – Mikey
Ford closed the Windsor engine plant. General Motors will permanently layoff 900 St. Catherines workers. Chrysler announced 3,300 job cuts. Kitchener’s Ledco closed last week, the latest of dozens of auto parts plant closings.
“We are going to make sure our workers get all the severance pay they are entitled to,” said Jerry Dias assistant to union boss Hargrove.
I’ll bet some could use a piece of the $25k Buzz gave PFLAG
The Windsor Engine plant was closed a few months back of late Ford has asked the Ontario and Federal governments for a hand up to re open it, so far only the Ontario Premier has okayed “Cash” where as the Feds have said No to such handouts before, but who knows for sure!
I tend to believe Mikey, that Oshawa is still producing Impala’s for the US Market, I guess all the dome and gloom we hear of State side economy is not right or again who knows!
In the Toronto Papers today it says that the CAW and Chrysler in Brampton have come to a agreement for buyouts and probably layoffs too, so there is some truth in that remark
EXCELLENT!!!!! I am pleased. ANd when is an organization that tries to reduce teenage suicide and homelessness considered political??
I don’t know about unions not being political, but PFLAG Canada isn’t. It’s a registered charity, which means that the Canada Revenue Agency completely bars it from some kinds of political activity and severely limits the extent to which it can undertake other kinds.
If anyone can prove that PFLAG Canada is NOT obeying these rules, go tell the CRA – but maybe you’d better have a look at the organization’s website at pflagcanada.ca and check your facts first.
