paige.jpgWe've finally removed the broken page view counter. The numbers we've been displaying for the last week or so have been completely misleading. We've been getting hundreds of page views where you've been seeing dozens, and thousands where you've seen hundreds. In sum, we're still bumping along at 580k uniques and 1.8m page views per month. Of course, I'd like to grow the site beyond this glass ceiling, but not crashing has been our number one priority. Not that I'm fucking complaining. Every single day, TTAC gets new registrations. Not many, but some. Every one is precious: a testimony to the fact that we're doing something right. Regardless of the numbers, our job to keep the Best and Brightest well supplied with new material, regardless of technical setbacks or disappearing features. (We're still working on restoring TrueDelta pricing and specifications, and we know the comment edit button's screwed for some of you.) At the end of the proverbial day, it's time for a nice bottle of Coppola's finest chardonnay. And while I'm drinking [some of] it, I know that I'm privileged to chronicle these amazing times in the automotive industry. And get paid for it, no less. I will do whatever I can to get this house in order. Meanwhile, thanks to our crack (as in expert) technical team and to you, for your patience.

You are very welcome Robert ;) (Dang, I thought that was my future wife, Rose McGowan.)

You guys are just SO GOOD! And don’t you forget it – and all that made (makes) it so.

On the subject of things, does anybody else have trouble logging in or posting in Opera? Today just now I can, but for the past many months I’ve had to open Firefox to log in and post replies. Please don’t say, “Well, the solution is just to use Firefox”, because I have heard it before.

    You need Charles Johnson

    Robert,
I think you’d fit in better if you were having a beer, not chardonnay. Or at least something a bit more out of the ordinary, like maybe a nice gewurtztaminer.

Jay Shoemaker runs Francis Ford Coppola’s wineries. I’m just supporting the troops. And, no plug intended, the boy makes a mighty fine wine (joy to the world).

If I could get podcasts in iTunes (link seems busted) I’d be happy. I’d like to listen on my way to/from work.

Otherwise, given the traffic level and all, the site seems to be doing well. Heck, Autoblog’s reply system has been busted for months and I don’t think I’ve seen so much as an admission yet.

Yes, the genesis device was from Star Trek 2: the Wrath of Kahn. The genesis device was designed to turn a completely lifeless planet into one that would be filled with life. Kahn steals it because he’s a big jerk. Damn, I’m a car dork and a sci fi dork!

    ZCLine,
Then count me in to the Car/Sci-Fi Dork club.

Interesting that Chrysler would use “Project Genesis” as the name of it’s attempt to bring to life a completely lifeless car/truck line-up.

    RF,
Agreed, The Wrath of Khan IS one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time!

trouble logging in or posting in Opera

I also use Opera (9.23) and have to open IE (7.0) for posting. I just got Opera 950 and will try with that.

The title of this entry is called “Page Views”….is the reason for the Rose McGowan photo (best known for her role as PAIGE in ‘Charmed’)?

…and yes, I am confessing my deepest, darkest, most embarrassing secret in asking this question- I was and still am a Charmed-junkie.
