3534car1.jpgHow's that for a mouthful? Driving and brittle diabetes are a dangerous combination, and affected individuals can't necessarily feel their sugars bottoming out, a condition called hypoglycemic unawareness. Recently available technology now allows for wireless transmission of near real-time sugar readings to glucometers and devices such as Blackberries. At the American Diabetes Association meeting this week, medical device manufacturer Medtronic unveiled a mashup of glucometer and Lincoln MKZ. It's not clear whether or not FoMoCo was part of the venture, but at least it wasn't a crashmobile such as the Hertzvette.

How about real-time alcohol level readings?

Lots of those affected individuals can’t feel their cars bottoming out.

Reminds me of the automotive touch-screen experiments done between Detroit and High-Tech firms back in the 1980s.

Popular Science reported that Ford did just that, with Comtech providing the new ideas and Lincoln giving up a Mark VII for the cause.

Sounds great for the average Lincoln owner. But for the rest of the population its just Lincoln’s way of saying “Yeah, were comfortable with our geriatric diabetic owner base”.Not that there is anything wrong with that.My mom could have really used a car like this. Will they come with automatic handicapped plates? These will SELL in Florida.
