TTAC's Best and Brightest have spoken. They demand independent, truthful and snarky video content– in addition to the excellent prose they already enjoy. Being the Road Test Editor, I have listened,and heeded. Last month, while testing a Jaguar XF, I decided to record my roadtrip in the Jaguar to Shiprock, New Mexico with the 1.3 megapixel video camera on my cellphone, for my own sake. Most of the narration was done by Andrew Cleary, a Welsh-educated Canadian who will be moving to Syria. I have since spliced the clips together, in a small, and extremely low-budget preview of a semi-professional Jaguar XF Supercharged video shoot we wrapped last Sunday. Myself, and two of my Captain cohorts– one with a degree in film making, the other cast as an extra in the Transformer's movie (look closely, and you will see my crew onboard the AWACS, those were real Capt Mike's!). We spent an entire afternoon shooting scenes and even a car chase involving a Mustang GT around Lake Stanley Draper. So please enjoy this teaser while we get our very first TTAC Video Review together.

Man, Oklahoma sucks HXC. The 5 in California is a way cooler road! Nice car, though. I can’t wait to see the whole video!
Are you guys going to take your own pictures, too instead of using stock ones? That would be awesome. I think Mr. Lieberman did a few. Or Shoemaker. Not sure. It was neat!
I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I enjoyed it. I’ll look forward to more video content.

We are stressing taking our own pictures of our tester cars, but sometimes, they really don’t turn out very well. The Bentley GTC review used all my pictures (minus interior… which were crap), and Johnny Lieberman proves very adept with the camera, and we nearly always feature his pictures in the reviews.
Stay tuned, we have listened to all of ya’ll, and we are adapting, because we refuse to die.

A tripod will make your life easy and really nice ones aren’t too expensive on Amazon. For in car scenes, you’ll need lots of light, too, so a 2 or 3 million candlepower spotlight ($10-20 at Target) shining through a diffuser will do wonders.
The XF is a beauty. It deserves to be seen in motion.

So will parking the car in the direct sun and putting a white bedsheet over the windshield to diffuse the light.
My own view is that video is much harder to digest than written content. With an article I can skim it easily, takes just a few seconds, and if I’m interested I can spend as much time as I want. Video can’t be skimmed easily.
