My wife doesn't believe me, but I'm taking a week off, my first in more than two-and-a-half years. This is my last opportunity to take a breather before Frank exits stage right and Justin gets up to speed. Rest assured this won't be one of those "paved paradise" deals; the website will be in Frank's capable hands, aided by our expert team of bloggers, reviewers and editorialists. While you're exploring the autoblogosphere, I'll be changing light bulbs (with help of course), taking my driving test (really), playing with my pre-schooler and generally decompressing. I trust you will, as always, keep us honest. Thanks for being there, even when I'm not. Oh, and we crested 700k uniques for the first time ever this month. I look forward to chasing the million. Later.

Two and a half years and all you’re taking is a week?! We’ll miss you of course – this site is THE BEST! Have a good rest, and be assured that the world of cars will be even more fun (bizarre?) when you get back.
Go for two weeks next year – you deserve it.
Cheers!
Congratulations on the 700k and the week off. Don’t cheat, though (on the downtime).
Good luck with those light bulbs!
With that said, you really should schedule at least 2 weeks/year off.
One week?!? Is that all?!?! Hell, GM won’t even be able to burn through $250M in that time. Oh, wait. Nevermind.
As much as we like you, we can get along just fine for a week. Go sleep in. Go drive some cars instead of writting about them.
Also, get Justin and Jonny to do the podcasts in your absence. That would be interesting.
If this is anything like the Daily Show, something BIG always happens while you are on break and unable to comment on it. GM Hummer or bailout announcement perhaps?
Love the photo of the Auburn… one of my favorite cars ever!
Enjoy the time off Mr. Farago. Here is a suggestion for you, take advantage and schedule a car-related time off next year. It is still work-related, but also time off. While it may not be your cup of tea, I try to do at least two full-week long organized car events each year. I co-drove the New England 1000 vintage rally in the spring, and will be taking 10 days off in a few weeks to do the Going To The Sun Rally in Montana, complete with the round-trip road trip to get there and back. No better way to unwind than spending a week+ on the road in a 2 seat convertible!
Sure beats changing light bulbs!

If you go to work in your pajamas, how do you tell when you’re on vacation?
Pst… Farago’s on vacation. No more on the web voices, we can scream out loud! Enjoy the time off and I hope that it is productive for you. Aw heck, you’ve got a preschooler, see what you can learn from him about life.
We’ll try to be careful around the Grotto as we await your return.
Enjoy yourself and remember, this is only your job.
“Oh, and we crested 700k uniques for the first time ever this month.”
Must have been those chearleader pics.
I think it was those cheerleader pics.
Congrats Robert and be safe. This site is THE best I’ve come across to date.
Enjoy the time off and congrats on 700k uniques.
Robert, Enjoy your break, I too am heading to the UK for a family matter(Scottish Wife)and looking forward to driving a bit there too, never sure about those “round abouts” but I am learning as they now have several here in Ontario! much to many who are not used to them!
You’ll be watching the 24/7 coverage of the Democratic National Convention, won’t you? ;-)
Merry Christmas! No wait..
Enjoy your time off :)
Someone mentioned Scotland, been there a couple times but never driven myself, definitely a place where i will take my own car as soon as i can. And just drive.
