I just love European marketing. This is the kind of thing you see on TV at 3 AM in your hotel in Italy. Or at 3 AM on some random high-numbered TV channel.

Shouldn’t I be watching this from my yacht?

But which pit crew enjoys their jobs the most?

I don’t know Justin…I usually saw less clothing on the tube in Europe after midnight.

    Hahahahahahaha, what a RIOT!

Years ago, I had a girlfriend who could be ready (to go nearly anywhere) almost as fast as the models.

This girl was quick with the makeup, the hair, and the clothing changes. She never second-guessed her fashion choice for the day. Once she was clothed, that was it, she was good go go. And damn, she looked great; not all bones-and-skin like a lot of models.

All I had to do was stay out of her “pit” or I’d get run over!

    VVVVRRROOOOMMMMM!!

So, what exactly is the commercial trying to sell?

  • avatar

You know, I had been wondering for quite a while whether models could change faster than a pit crew could get a car on the track. Now I know they don’t. I will definitely buy a Mercedes now instead of a model.

Yes, I know this wasn’t a sales comparative, but sometimes we need to try and put a sensible sales pitch on mindless, inane idiocy like this. I like how they just kept drawing comparisons of motorsports and modeling, like they expect one of their Mercedes owners to say at a cocktail party one day, “You know, both modeling and automobile racing depend on speed, precision and dealing with stress under pressure.”

And all the other snobs nod in agreement.

Was it MB that made that video, shown here recently, where the guy sang about “The Japs”? I suppose the company is following their customers into the more-money-than-sense category.

    That is fine looking Eurotrash.

    I’ve done both.

It really is hard to say which is more fun. Though you usually don’t need to point a fire extinguisher at models.

    Where is David Hasselhoff?

Jonny – where do you post your reviews of the models?

  • avatar

I’d much rather be backstage watching the models than in the pits. That said, this ad did not satisfy my prurient interest. Nonetheless, very cute.

    @Kazoomaloo

    Thanks for the laugh!

Was the guy in the background of the model interview with the stupid scarf and jacket for real? Do people really dress like that and actually think they’re snazzy looking like that? wtf?

It’s also taking a lot of effort to withold all the jokes & puns about pit crews and females.

My guess is that this is a promotional video for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, and not a TV ad as some people think.

When I owned a Mercedes (never will again), I thought these folks were needed to keep the thing running on daily basis.

blindfaith…those people moved with far too much alacrity and they look like they knew what they are doing. Definitely not Mercedes dealer staff.

When you treat people like cars in a pitstop, they really don’t seem that sensual, do they?

All that makes me wish MB competed in ALMS.
You could bring some of those models to MidOhio too…

“Motor racing and fashion. Both of them demand perfection and speed.”

I always thought that cocaine would be the drug of choice in celebrity fashion circles. Hey, whatever keeps you looking anorexic!

    Martin Schwoerer

They certainly do manage to make both motor racing and fashion strangely unappealing. No mean feat, that.

I think my fueling rig would be engaged in the models a little longer.

“its really a long time even though its quite short”

i wonder if he sounds as stupid in german as he does in english

What would have been a humorous comparison in the past (easily written in two sentences), has now become a lame two minutes of people’s lives.
All you need is some digitized “stock footage”, a computer and a microphone.
And those models are the human equivalent of “carbon fiber” clothes racks for the (usually) “poofty” designers…

    HMmmmm

    Im personally insulted..

I just watched what was quite possibly.. the most boring piece of… tv that Ive ever seen, (besides most GM ads.)

Im suing TTAC for forcing me to watch these flecks of skin and bones get compared to some of the best in motor racing..

    On the other hand..
A M-B isnt as nice as they used to be. More like the tarted up scrawny anorexic trashy overpaid clothes whores / (whores in general) draped with window blinds and push up bras!
