The interior of this …. car ? …. reminds me of the time Homer Simpson designed a car for his brother’s company. As you all remember it went bankrupt. I do think however that the design would come into its own if they managed a way to put a cupholder on top on the gear level.
Simplicity is apparently not a virtue. Last week I was looking at pix of a Lambo Miura. The exterior is just outstanding, but the interior is just awful. Across the dash, there are hideous carbuncles and binnacles, wrapped in leather, but still hideous. I don’t think this interior or those of many contemporary cars will age even that well. Now that Porsche is Audi’s overlord, can’t they just farm this out to the proven leaders? And tell them, BTW, elegance is not as fussy as an A8 or A6 dash, either.
The local Porsche salesguy has had deposits on these fordors from day 1 and will probably sell all he can get his mitts on.
Wow, the center console is ridiculous large and intrusive in there, not to mention busy as all hell with buttons-for-everything it seems. One mis-guided arm-drop and your recreating a GM gas-pump revenge commercial…
It looks like the center stack is the center console of an A6 pregnant with two other A6 center consoles. It’s a little like the Oldsmobile Tornonado from the mid 90’s that had something like 60 buttons.
Wow, Porsche pays their designers serious money for that disaster???
Email me Porshe if you read this board and need one more useless designer in your staff. Although I don’t have any prior design related experiences, I can, somehow, assure you that I can provide better designs for inside and outside of the Panamera than atrocity on wheels.
What? Looks like they have fitted a refrigerator in the console, the ultimate cup holder.
Unenthusiastic about this car from the moment I heard of it, enhusiasm not growing upon seeing interior.
A shame. I have a two minute film with F. Porsche, who speaks of “why a committee will never rule at Porsche.” Clearly, those days are over.
The exterior is fine. The wheel, dials, and stalks are 911 with PDK which is OK.
Holy shit that center console.
Compare the Carrera GT center console:

Sure they’re different cars for different purposes from nearly a decade apart.
I don’t know…
Is this what you get when you put together all the functionality of a BMW M5, but don’t have a computer controlled interface in place of all those physical buttons?
Who needs to adjust their suspension settings as often as he adjusts what’s playing through the stereo?
I gotta say, it’s tacky but it’s pretty cool. I am a fan of those big center consoles that divide up the space strongly and make you feel like you’re sitting in a tub. I like close-quartered cars. That’s just me.
You would have thought that Porsche would have learnt something from the Cayenne that people don’t like ugly cars, no matter how good the dynamics.
From everything I have seen from the inside and outside ( and the pictures are now 99% finished car ) this is one big turkey. It might have made sense 3 years ago, but now it totally misses the current zeitgeist.
Then again, Porsche have recently made so much money speculating in VW shares, they won’t really care what anyone thinks.
I think you guys are pulling my leg. That’s either a picture of the interior of a tractor trailer, a subway train, a diesel locomotive, or a ship. If it is a train I’m not sure why the steering wheel is there though. I’m pretty sure that the “gearshift” lever is actually the throttle, or maybe the bow thrusters. Maybe it’s the new Disneyworld monorail ?.
You would have thought that Porsche would have learnt something from the Cayenne that people don’t like ugly cars, no matter how good the dynamics.
As I recall they got the money to buy VW from selling all those Cayennes.
As for me, I love it. Inside and out. I think it’s the most evil, demonic looking car since the BMW 850. It’s something the CEO of Philip Morris or Exxon Mobile would drive.
I don’t know, but their is something about a car like that that I love.
I defended the Cayenne because it made enough money for Porsche to make the Carrera GT, so keep on the positive side… screw it, I’d rather take a Maserati Quattroporte instead.
With the mix of rubbery-looking leather, poky metal bits, and ominous black tones, it looks like it belongs in a fetish club. It makes the old BMW 850 seem warm and Italianate.
That center console looks like someone puked buttons everywhere. Nasty. It makes me pine for the simplicity of the 914’s dashboard, the first Porsche I ever owned.
I didn’t think a Porsche interior could be worse than the Cayenne, but I was mistaken.
OK, I think the car looks cool – it may not look like a Porsche should, but we’ll see if it grows on me. The Cayenne looks like a Porsche should. The interior scares me but if it is more functional to have buttons rather than a menu (i.e. M6) then I will just have to make sure not to take the kids and dog in the car as I can just imagine the wipers goin on, the fog lights blinking, the traction control turning off, the air bags deploying …
Finally, an interior Lt. Commander Data can actually love!
Oh my goodness, that’s a complete disaster. Insert internet meme about “fail” here.
That just looks like an awful place to be, no thanks.
I dont know. I think it needs more buttons…
Yes.

Ugly? No. Well, except for that steering wheel. I’m sure that’s nice leather and all, but it looks like the hub is painted plastic.
Overdone? Yes. You can tell they’re chasing BMW, Mercedes and Audi.

The center console looks like it belongs in Alien vs Predator and the rest is a cluttered mess. Hideous.
Paddle shifters are mounted on steering wheel(just like Fit) not on the column like racing cars. I reckon it is not a racing specimen.
The ENTIRE Panamera is ugly. This dashboard is just the sprinkles atop the whipped cream of ugly.
–chuck
A new expression is born.
“That’s Panamera ugly!”
Wow, the center console is ridiculous large and intrusive in there, not to mention busy as all hell with buttons-for-everything it seems. One mis-guided arm-drop and your recreating a GM gas-pump revenge commercial…
Yes, but what kind of ugly?

I think a better question is, is anything about the Porsche Panamera not ugly?
I think the only reason there aren’t more buttons is they ran out of room for them.

I guess there’s no accounting for taste because I like it – both the car and the interior. Of course, I also think the Dodge Magnum looks cool. :-)
H.R.Giger is working for Porsche?
Another reason to make fun of anyone who buys a Panamera.
i would have believed you if those pics accompanied “is the chevy cruze’s interior ugly?”
Is the traditional manual shifter not an option on this car? I can’t see how you could possibly shift with the knob up that high.
The exterior is fine. The wheel, dials, and stalks are 911 with PDK which is OK.
Holy shit that center console.

The keyfob is cute though.
@ chuckR: “Lambo” is better used to describe a wedgey lamborghini. As in “some idiot rocked up in a Lambo.” A miura is definitely a lamborghini
The whole car is just awful.
Aston Martin is the only company that is doing this 4-door coupe segment right.
Kind of reminds me of the pinnacle of “Boom Box Tech” in the 80’s — pretty busy/blingy.
I think that dash could cause migrane headaches in the overly sensitive.
I gotta say, it’s tacky but it’s pretty cool. I am a fan of those big center consoles that divide up the space strongly and make you feel like you’re sitting in a tub. I like close-quartered cars. That’s just me.
Jeee-zus! Somebody hide the Jaegermeister and quick!
I don’t think it’s as ugly as it is an ergonomic nightmare!
HIDEOUS.
my god, look at all those buttons! What would some people do for knobs these days?
I dont think it’s ugly, just slightly disorganized. the Gremlin, now that is ugly.

As Bill Cosby said a long time ago:
“”Ugleeeeeeeee….fieee, so ugleeeeeeeee. Bleeeaaahhhhhhh””

Um, yes. The whole damn car is ugly.

iDrive isn’t looking so bad now, is it?
That center console looks like someone puked buttons everywhere. Nasty. It makes me pine for the simplicity of the 914’s dashboard, the first Porsche I ever owned.

I have never seen an “ugly” interior. I have seen insufficient ones…(no tach on an stick)

Kurt.
Needs more buttons.
~ DESU DESU DESU DESU etc
What? No push button starter?
