“Shield your eyes” — there’s a pair of sunglasses on the dash.
Oh now I hadn’t seen that! Ehhh, but neither did they, I guess.
Did you all read that horrible story a month or two ago about those 30 or so ravers in Germany that experienced partial-to-near-total blindness? All due to stupidity / inexperienced setup of the laser light show equipment.
Scary; so many young people senselessly and irreparibly scarred for life.
This is a very rare incident in Germany. A few months ago, a massive hail took place in Krefeld. And about 15 years ago around Munich a similar event with hundreds of millions DM damage took place. Normally all Germans are insured against this. Many people in Munich took the money and did not repair their cars, at least the roof. These cars were then known as “crispbread” cars (Knäckebrotautos).
I remember when Hurricane Juan hit Halifax, there were docks full of new cars fresh off the boat that got wrecked cosmetically. A lot of money went down the drain for that.
In reality, that’s a fairly lightweight hail storm. The area in and around Fort Smith, AR got hit last April with baseball size hail driven by 100 MPH winds. The damage was almost unbelievable, especially to cars. Regressive Insurance set up a claims tent in a big box store parking lot and was totaling over 250 cars per day in the weeks that followed…
Had to be a rental — not once did I hear “My poor freakin’ CAR!”.
Also. what’s with the “Poison Gas” sign? I would be driving AWAY from that area, lest a tornado let loose a death cloud… A rather “otherworldly” event, for sure.
Damn… that is like watching “The Blair Witch Project”.
So the hail was breaking the glass and casting shards into their faces?
And they didn’t seek shelter? Holy crap.
Ummm, and why does General Motors suddenly come to mind?
Dumb shits.
When they first saw the hail why didn’t the just make a U-turn and get away from the storm ?.
Darwin proved right again
I can already see my insurance rates going up…

Good question, especially since they’re in an Explorer…

Amazing that they kept going into the storm.
