Ha! Love the over-the-top stereotypes. Very funny. Ok, i get it; if you are normal or want to appear so, drive an Audi. Those twins are an interesting character study. They should get their own youToob web series.
The point is that if you buy an Audi, you won’t get labeled like the other brands’ drivers. The reality is that Audi dissappeared from the market for so long that they don’t suffer from a stereotype. Does the lack of stereotype overcome the lack of brand stability? Couldn’t Kia make the same pitch?
I think a better pitch would be to sell one’s own good stereotype rather than lack of bad ones. If I want the benefit pitched here, I would go for the Accord.
Billy: “Hey, who rules?”
Girl: “Billy rules!”
*car runs over a banana peel*
Both: “Billy rules! Billy rules! Billy rules!”
*car drives off a cliff, explodes*
Wasn’t there a recent Top Gear where the BMW M3 was demoted from the ultimate jerk-driving car and dethroned by the Audi RS4 or something to that effect?
Everything is correct in this Ad except for one thing. Sitting next to the Audi driver should have been a handsome looking dude :) Then stereotypes would have been 100% spot on.
And yeah, front passangers in Lexus should have been switched – dominant woman behind the wheel and wuss of a husband on the passanger seat.
Not bad actually so subtle are the references! to the adoption, what type of family everyone has and they dont call it out but you see which car each one has. Brilliant I say. And its entertaining!
They should turn this into a series of shorts for Audi’s lifestyle channel. If this wasn’t labeled “audi commercial” I would have thought they were driving an Accord or something.
Har har. Apparently making fun of the wealthy is what Audi thinks will sell more luxury cars. Unless they want to sell their cars to people who are not wealthy and turn up their noses towards typical luxury stereotypes, but can get a subprime loan on menial credit (whoops, not anymore).
I like it. I also like the one where the living room changes from staid to modern and the Benz outside changes to an Audi – quite effective. As an Audi owner, I’m biased (although not gay).
Gotta love the stereotypes – so fun. Enough to go around for everyone. When you’re the underdog, you can risk throwing out a few.
I don’t think most Audi owners are gay. Rabbits, Jettas and Beetles on the other hand… They got the RX and the S-class, but they absolutely nailed the 3 convertible driving douche but good. Several months ago a 3 coupe flew by me driving just like that. About 15 miles further I saw it again – on its roof. Ultimate crashing machine.
I also noticed that the S was parked in between a Cadillac and an Infiniti – sequel?
Funny ad, but really makes me think that Audi (and apparently owners of Audis) are just completely full of themselves, looking down their noses at people that drive other brands of cars.
Ad cries out for Billy Bob in an older Chevy pick-up with a dog in the bed and a couple vile spawn and Ma scratchin’ themselves as they bounce down a dusty back road.
Was that an ad? I thought it was a new sitcom or a new drama show or something. What were they selling?
“I think my hangnail’s infected.” That one made me laugh…but the “twins” creeped me out.
this is awesome. saw it on autoblog yesterday

hahaha BILLY you PRICK!!!!
it’s on!
I dunno.

That was rather funny.
I didn’t catch that “Thai or Chinese” the first time, she’s looking at an adoption brochure.

Man I wish I could see this stuff at work…..

“Thai or Chinese” while looking at the adoption brochure.
Priceless.

Can hardly wait to see the bitter, alcoholic, over-the-top mother (first wife of the Commander).
The M3 driver reminded me more of all the Boxster drivers I’ve encountered.

So the judgmental asshole drives an Audi.
I think they nailed it.
