I just saw this on their site…and I must say, their label of it as a ‘review’ just doesn’t do it for me. There could be more truthiness over at the Jalopniks, me thinks.
Now that is a pretty cool truck…too bad it’ll be where most other pickups are: on the pavement.
Good for Ford on bringing back an off-road package, as the current offerings (from all manufactures) are no more than stickers and tires now. FX4 used to be a standalone upgrade, now it’s just a Lariat with different trim color.
And that grill is much better than the standard fare 09 F150.
Hmm, vaporware maybe, but it looks pretty neat. Would be an interesting (albeit gigantic) Jeep competitor. Heck, if Jeep made a large Wrangler with a big V8 even I’d consider one, despite my general aversion to big macho trucks.
Looks like they stole the front end from the Range Rover Sport, not that that is a bad thing.
What about that 5.0 that is supposedly in development? Why does it need a 6.2L if the (alleged) hp of the 5.0 will be the same?
Baja has a ton of motorcycle and 4-wheeled classes, including relatively stock VW Beetles, but the trucks that get the attention and win overall are like this:
Despite the “two years of development” I would guess that this was pretty cheap to develop, so if it keeps the lights on until the Euro Fords come over so be it.
What, no MPG estimates for the two engine options? “Worst” and “Worstest”, perhaps?
All kidding aside, this truck will be Da Bomb for open-desert racing (and maybe for mud-bogging, with the right tires) but not very useful for other serious off-roading. I’d think very carefully before taking a 400-hp full sized pickup on the very tight mining trails I knew in Colorado.
This kind of crap is the reason we should NEVER bailout the Big 3. When you have to mortgage your freaking LOGO to stay alive…you have no business making a useless and pointless vehicle like this.
What are they feeding the baboons at FMC? Stupid pills?
Rather than make a small diesel affordable and possible in this market, Ford spends their borrowed money on a lift kit and some fancy badges.
Thats actually pretty cool. Pimp away, I’m interested if I have any money.
Nobody is saying whether this is 2WD or 4WD.
The PreRunner vehicles are usually 2WD. Toyota and Nissan have the PreRunner Tacoma and the XRunner Frontier. Both are 2wd trucks with 4×4 suspensions

Brochureware!

More infomercial than review. Still, how many stock trucks do what that one can?

Well Mr. Ford, how about a Ranger Raptor?
Jalop is great good fun but they do a whole lot of pimpin. Gets old, but one can always change channels.

This truck reminds me more of this:

But I could be wrong.

But a Ranger Raptor? That sounds awesome.
What a useless vehicle.

Un-freaking-believable.
Another halo product with no market.
IMO, not what the market needs or Ford for that matter.
When’s the Ford F-Series “Raptor” vs. Dodge Ram “Power Wagon” vs. HUMMER H3T Alpha comparo gonna happen?

Can you believe that this joke of a truck can only tow 6000 pounds?
