Don’t know if it’s worth the price, but what a lovely design. I shudder to think what Bangle would have done to this design if he had been put in charge of the project mid-way through.
Funny, this is the very first car I saw (in person) that turned my head around. We were at Mosport in 1974 and two spectators brought Daytona coupes (a yellow and a red) to the race. When we were leaving, the yellow coupe merged into the queue ahead of us. We crept along with this amazing car ahead of us. Once we got clear of the traffic, we came to a four way stop, the Daytona still ahead of us. The driver, no doubt frustrated, matted it…and vanished. I’ve loved these cars ever since.
It’s the only car that can hit 70 mph – in reverse. That’s worth the price of admission, don’t you think?
Nice car, not as pretty as the 275 series but they did have some staggering performance which still holds up today.
I’ve always lusted after a Daytona, but unless I win the lottery, it ain’t gonna happen. Back when Miami Vice was on the tube, I found out that the TV show car was a fake — body panels made by McBurnie Coachwork. I contacted McBurnie hoping to buy a kit, and build my own fake, but they had been put out of business by a cease-and-desist from Ferrari’s legal department.
No offense to all the Italian porn lovers,
But that is a butt ugly car. Looks like a cheap europeanized draft version of a Corvette Stingray. Oops! That what it probably was!!!
I’ll take the Corvette instead.
rashakor-
Considering that beauty is a matter of opinion, care to tell us what you would consider to be a beautiful car?
I can appreciate the beauty of the car and it’s value as a collectible, but if I had $359,000 burning a hole in my pocket I’d by something more modern. Either another more modern exotic European supercar, or a Corvette ZR-1 and pocket the difference.
It’s like the old muscle cars on Barrett-Jackson. Whenever I see an old piece of Detroit iron selling formore than a modern Corvette or exotic car first thing I think of is WHY ?. Keep it for an investment and hope the price goes up, but you can’t drive it. The new cars are 10x better than 60’s and 70’s iron…..except for maybe their looks
A bargain! I’ll take two.
Double-bagged paper, please.
I’m surprised it’s not parked in the handicap spot, or are those only reserved for Corvette drivers?
It takes 12 cylinders to pull 352hp?
I always loved that car. Wow that’s a lot of money though. I think I also like the pop up lights better, something doesn’t sit right for those lights at least for me.
I have a personal policy of not buying my cars in school-bus yellow, sorry.
So would I be safe in saying that you wouldn’t be going for Fire Engine RED or Cement Mixer ORANGE either ?
