Maybe they are just lazy. And figure since they havent changed their product in years.,or decades, that no one would notice. Hard to tell.

Cue the empty suits at GM frantically cobbling together fake 2009 models to throw you off the scent. You should sign off every post as Robert “The Rottweiler” Farago.

The GM Family First website lists 2009 vehicles for only the Cadillac, Chevrolet, Hummer, Pontiac and Saab brands. The only Saab listed under 2009 is the 9-7x.

On the GMC website, all the vehicles are specifically identified as 2008s. Same on the Saab site, except for the 9-7x, which has a 2009 MSRP* (and is from a plant about to be closed in December). However, over at Chevy.com, the tab header says 2009, Cars, SUV’s, Trucks…

    Interesting.

It appears that Chevrolet does offer 2009 model year vehicles in every single model that has a GMC twin…but no GMC MY2009…hmmm…

Wow. Seeing this I went to the GMC.com website and attempted to prove Mr. Farago wrong.

I was rewarded with a big bucket of fail dumped on my head. In other words I found no 2009 models- which shocks me.

Well, maybe this has something to do with the big announcement promised for Monday.

    Ugh.

I KNOW – GM is selling Saab and GMC to Chrysler so that when they go Chapter 7, they take GM’s brands down with them!!! Rick Wagoner is a genius!!!

I don’t know about GMC, but it seems like the Saab website is always all kinds of screwed-up.

    I don’t know why they’re not on GMC’s and Saab’s websites, but they’re on GM’s media site.

    GMC:
    http://media.gm.com/us/gmc/en/product_services/r_cars/index.html

    Saab:
    http://media.gm.com/us/saab/en/product_services/ps_cars/index.html

Perhaps they want to clear out the 2008s first? It is pretty odd, though.

EDIT: On GMC, the only 2009 models they reference are the XFE models, but no other. I’m starting to think that, since GMC’s sales are almost entirely fleet, they’ve just stopped caring.

On the Pontiac and Hummer sites, one can still build a 2009 (‘tho why anyone would want to is beyond me).

On the Buick site, however, anyone wanting to build or find a 2009 model is referred to the Buick information center’s “800” number.

    The game’s afoot…

At least in terms of Saab, there are no overt references to any model years at all. Suggesting the company’s done already seems a bit sensational.

With the reported mules of the 9-5, I don’t think they’re done quite yet – I’m hoping they pull a Jaguar and launch a desirable 9-5 as part of a severance package so that someone who won’t squander Saab will rescue them. Fingers crossed?

Note the date of the GMC press release on that media site: June 9, 2008. That’s an eon ago in the current auto industry. GMC’s website also won’t let you search for 2009 vehicles. But I checked several large GMC’s dealer sites and found a few 2009’s Sierras here and there, but no 2009 Yukons. It’s possible GM did produce some 2009 trucks but if the WAROTD is true, they pulled the plug on 2009s.

And Saab will likely continue in Europe, just not sold in the USA.

Checked Liberty Buick (largest standalone Buick dealer in the country), they’ve got a bunch of 2009 Buicks on the ground – but only Enclaves and Lucernes.

It’s not that GMC and SAAB aren’t going to have ’09 models (2010 is a different question), it’s likely that GM is actually smart enough not to emphasize the ’09 models when the lots are clogged with a huge backlog of ’08s that need to be sold.

My local GMC dealer lists over 100 “2009” vehicles as “in stock”. Must just be lazy at the top, or maybe worse?

You guys are crazy…. I’m driving an 09 GMC Sierra SLE, crew cab as my demo. I can send you pics and pics of the VIN if you like.

    Edit:
gm.ca allows you to build and price an 09 GMC.

Honestly, I don’t know why, but I know we’ve got lots of GMC’s in our rental fleet(09’s), as 3 of the lease managers demos, and I just quoted a 5500 the other day.

I should note that the Canadian Blackbook online (future residuals) has never listed an 09 GMC as of yet which struck me as mildly irritating.

    Point Given:

What’s up with the websites, then (conspiracy theories aside)?

  • avatar

My guess is the 2009 9-3’s are delayed due to:
    a) clear out 2008 inventory
    b) delays on offering XWD with the 2.0T

As to the 9-5, only a) applies.

Robert, you could call Jan-Willem Vester (gee, wonder if that’s Swedish), who has a phone number listed a the bottom of the 2009 Saab Press Release. See if he gives straight answers.

Slackness in building the sites properly, I’d say. You can build one at Saab.ca, as someone’s mentioned already, and I’ve spoken to dealers here in Australia who have told me that 09s have landed in the country already.

And Jan-Willem Vester is Dutch, btw. Good guy.

Hey, give GM some credit for their brilliant cost-cutting! By not updating websites that nobody visits they can save a bucketfull of cash.

Of course, thanks to this thread Lutz will pick up the red phone tomorrow and get this taken care of, thus wasting more cash and dead brands.

The 2009s will be just like the 2008s… 1998 models with extra chrome strips on the headlights.

Even Studebaker [66 MY] Edsel [60 MY] and DeSoto 61 MY] Squeezed out a few final units before expiring…….

That there are some 09 GMCs running around could possibly mean that 08’s got new serial #s, like Kaiser did with it’s over building in 48/49. To clear out the stock the “new” MY Kaisers and Frazers got new serial #s at the dealer.

Wonder when the 09 Saturn Astra is coming. 2010?

I wouldn’t read too much into it. Hyundai hasn’t come out with most 2009’s yet – only the Genesis, Azera, Sonata and Accent. We can’t even get 2009 brochures for the Azera and Sonata – and they came out in March! Corporate incompetence, that’s all.

  • avatar

Prices have been released for all of the 2009 Saabs and GMCs. You’ll find most in the pricing section here.

Seems they’re just really slow updating the sites. Maybe they’re using a single team, and GMC and Saab are last in line.

Helped you out. My 7th grade computer literacy class has better website/inventory skills than Saab NA.

Why would they show 2009 models? It’s still only 2008.

    (just kidding…)

Quoted from the GM Canada site…
    “Sierra Model Overview
Whatever you’re looking for in a full-size pickup, you’ll find it in a 2009 Sierra.”

    Saab has a website?

I think it’s obvious. GM has spent their absolute last money on those obscenely annoying 8 page ripouts they’re putting in all the car mags. Thank God I’m no longer a shareholder!!
