Oil shocks, terrorism, economic malaise, automaker bailouts and now six-wheeled cars. What’s next? Disco and pet rocks?

Ken Tyrell will definitely be jealous – or bent over laughing.
Ohh, come on, this is old. I’ve seen it at least a year ago…
There are supposed advantages to double front wheels, but this car fails to use the biggest one (smaller wheels with equal patch size, hence smoother front with lower air resistance). IMO, an extra-wide set of tires would do a better job these days.
A much more interesting innovation from that era of F1 motorsport is the fan car. A road-going car that can pull 4 G’s would be unholy.
Actually, CANAM got sucker cars first, thanks to one of the great motor sports innovators – Jim Hall.
Especially wearing a set of P7000 SuperSports.
They were a great tyre for my SVX when I lived in Chicago, but you think that they might try at least a pair of P-Zero Rosso’s – you know, something with some real stickiness – though that might induce terminal oversteer in this thing.
oh, man! i thought that was a photoshop.
If you leave it outside in the rain it’ll grow bean sprouts too.
“Staying alive, staying alive, oh oh …”
I’m gonna say the 70s died, unless Aston Martin makes the Rapide as a retro redo of the awesome Lagonda.
To quote the great Herschel Krustofski, “What the hell is that?!”
It’s been around for a while.
What bothers me is the extremely long wheelbase. Doesn’t look particularly flickable. I’d say it’s more of a proof of concept than a viable improvement on the traditional formula.
six wheels,bah ! how about eight , plus 260mph , now your talking !
It’s like trying to drift an LAV.
The 70’s were already back, what are you talking about! Have you seen the new old boring sameastheoldboss 2008 Challenger, Mustang, Camaro?
Thunderbirds are go! http://www.autocult.com.au/img/gallery/TorqueOmata67.jpg
@dolo54,
Excellent call!
You’d have to spray it in pink, though.
WTF?
Valmorphanize!
Panther Callista, wasn’t it?
edit -Oops, it was the Panther 6. Kallista was a Morgan-esque roadster. God I hate getting old…
‘Tis a neat gimmick, like having teflon in an application that it can’t do anything. But it IS there…
The six-wheeled thing has been studied to death. Functionality – zero.
Style points?- eye of the beholder/chump with checkbook.
Party on Wayne…
In line with the urban warfare this is the American SUV/”Truck” buyer, it won’t be long before they want that extra axle in the rear. (Or maybe the front too? Is there a market for 8-wheeler F-250s?)
How is it in the snow, does it have front wheel drive???
Does a six-wheel car need one and a half spares?
question: how much oversteer is too much?
I dunno.
Ask Audi why they put a spoiler on the back of the TT…or the owner of an older Porsche.
Four wheels in front, NICE!
It’s like that car in “League of Extroardinary Gentlemen”; that was a badass car.
