For those of you that didn’t see the original version of this story with the pretty graphics and hyperlinks the email linked to http://email.generalmotors.bfi0.com/W0RH000DE6696313804072E0957950
So basically GM has given up on ever getting anyone who doesn’t already own a GM vehicle to buy one, they just try and get existing GM owners to buy more.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to offer a $3000 discount to anyone who trades in a NON-GM vehicle?
Odd. Is there a reason my earlier comment got deleted?
The discount conditions are weird: why exclude buyers of the ZR1 and the CTS-V?
I’m guessing the next trick to come out of GM marketing will be for them to go “infomercial” on us and offer a free vehicle if you pay shipping & handling. (S&H to total $25k or so depending on the vehicle)
no lease? pay $3000 more
no 99 or newer GM vehicle? pay another $3000
no GM Card? no extra $1500
they’re crazy in the Ren Cen. but then, we knew that.
Even with the discounts the prices are still inflated. It looks like the msrp is increased so in reality you are barely saving $1000.
Well…even with the annual “Toe Tag” sale retail sales were down 41% for GM in December.
This is just the next “panic button” sales device.
Bunter
heh, g-m ded dot com
Desperation is employees of EDS receiving the employee discount long after GM divested itself of the IT firm. I think (though not certain) that EDS’ers still get the discount even though HP has acquired the firm.
Um, I just got rid my 1999 Buick. I don’t think this would have swayed me to consider another GM car, but $3000 is more than I got in trade for my car.
How about some loyalty cash love to each and every taxpayer who gave them free money?
@ronin amen!
does gm still own some of subaru? i could get a deal, yo.
GM dumped Subaru a long time ago. Where have you been?
@Runfromcheney – thanks for the info. i have been not paying attention.
