Looks like a ’96 Sable from the rear and a 2005 Kia from the front.

Poor Mercedes. Every Korean and Chinese luxury sedan knock-off is cribbing their looks to the point where even the real thing looks boring and nondescript.

I like it. I find the simplicity appealing; and the fact that rear visibility is uncompromised (large, flat rear window and small C-pillars).

There’s no odd angles or slants (BMW 5), it doesn’t have a cartoon-character face (Caddy, Audi), and won’t be confused with a livery vehicle (Lexus).

    I see a ’96 Caprice, but yeah.

I like the new C and now the E. Redolent of the W201 and W124. I’m glad MB is rectifying their previous models’ stray from inter-generational design affinity.

From the angled interior shot it looks like a Audi A6 to me…

MrDot, I agree – when everyone else copies you and you can’t change enough to be noticed it is a problem.

True enough. But I still think this (and the Buick LaSomething) are copying the ’96 Sable. For reasons beyond mortal comprehension.

    I’m not impressed…

Neither the front nor rear of the car look good, I’d go as far as saying the front even looks ugly.

The interior seems to have been improved but then again it needed a lot of improvement.

IMO, The E-class hasn’t been class leading anymore since the W124, or maybe even the W123. Even with the W124 the BMW was already closing in fast with the E34. I’d rather have the E34 but the W124 was probably still the better car.
The E39 completely crushed the W210 and then still crushed the W211 when that was launched. Now the A6 is a better car than the E too…

The only Mercs that have my respect these days and that I would just maybe consider buying if I didn’t like BMWs are the current C, the GL, ye olde G-wagon and that’s it.

Sweet! An unreliable, overpriced, overweight, grandpamobile! What is one reason other than the badge to buy this?

At this point the only thing MB has going for them is the S-class being better than the 7.

Wow, I honestly can’t believe it looks so much like a Kia/Hyundai.

MB styling tends to grow on me, except when they get too complex. Most AMG’s look worse than the stock cars to me. Strangely, the BMW M’s look much better to me. I can’t explain it.
