My ’08 Chrysler 300C AWD with the Hemi sounds way better and has 390 lb/ft of torque to boot. The Aston sounds like a truck. What a beautiful interior. Long live Britannia
I like the low growl, but when it revs up it sounds like one of those aluminum sheets they use to make thunder noises. It just doesn’t sound… pleasing I guess would be the best word.
Revving an engine to redline and back with a blip, is meaningless. Sort of like stretching an empty bra in air and snapping it.
It doesn’t tell you anything about what it is really like. No tangible sense of utility, aesthetics, form, or reality.
Put that engine, on a road, under load and shift it through the gears. Or put that bra on a a woman’s figure… watch her move… and then take it off slowly.
Until I hear that car actually being used, I’ll reserve judgement on how it sounds.
I’ll take it. Even the engine sounds a bit too ‘metallic’ I promise I’ll keep it under, say, 3000 rpm so the rest of you don’t have to worry. I promise. :-)
It sounds strained, which may be why they did it indoors with all that reverb. Reverb in music production is usually used to fill the texture or to compensate for thin-sounding vocals. Seems like they’ve done the same here.
As it’s the same engine from the DBS, it stands to reason it will sound largely like a DBS, doesn’t it? (Yes, some minor differences in exhaust tuning are possible.)
Youtube is chock-full of Aston DBS videos that all sound fabulous under load.
The v8 sounds amazing on the road. I heard one just a couple days ago accelerating hard from a light. I imagine this is just a case of bad recording. The sound is clipping, that is, going past the max level and cracking.
Did they shut it down so quick because it was out of petrol? Driving a V12 DB7 Volante was the only time I can recall actually being able to see a fuel gauge needle swing toward “E”. Scary.
Are you nut’s That thing sounds nasty in a really really good way. Most V12’s don’t have a snarl like that. That is one bad MOFO . I would give my left you know what for that car. Simply Irresitable as the song goes .

Gotta disagree. I love it.
agroal: what kind of truck sounds like that? I want one.
I think it sounds like a big metal warehouse door slamming shut.

If they didn’t rev it up in an airplane hangar, with all of the reverberation, it’d sound better.
it sounds like it’s the acoustics in the building, i’m sure it wont sound so harsh outside
I’m with Chuck on this one. And I do mean about putting the engine under load and then listening to the sound.
The whole thing with the bra, too, was um, ah, a nice analogy?
It sounds like the audio was over-processed for effect. It doesn’t sound right.
@chuckgoolsbee : Well said!
That video player was annoying, and the car’s inside. I’m with Chuck, here.
Sounds terrible!
That’s good!

well i wouldnt expect any car to sound good revving up like that indoors.
still, at least it doesn’t sound like a 4 cylinder
-that’s just the sound of a Valkyrie tearing the soul out of your body as you bleed out;
next stop: Valhalla.
Are you fuckin kidding?

Chuck’s right. And adding huge reverb to any original dry sound is one of the oldest tricks in the book for dramatizing something that lacks drama.
Judgement definitely reserved (Fingers crossed though!).
I like the backwards rev counter!
