Beyond the same things that are always wrong with every car concept sketch?? The cartoon superhero proportions that can never be formed in sheet metal and actually hold a drivetrain and driver, not to mention passengers? The goofy exaggerated wheels that would look like a Conestoga Wagon if produced at 1:1 scale?
Real artists work in real materials. I never put any stock in concept sketches. They never represent anything other than car designers’ masturbatory fantasies.
Oh, yeah… and there is a VW badge on this goofy thing. What’s up with that?
1. No door handles
2. If you’re going to ape the US muscle car “revival,” you can’t have four doors.
3. Ultra-low-aspect tires + no wheel well clearance.
Hy-Volk-Saab-Cad-wagen-unda-illac-Motoren-Werke 9-5-series Jetta-Aero V6 Sport Turbo STS-X-V Sonata Viggen with the B-pillar delete option, that’s what it is.
What’s wrong is that this is from VW, when it looks like it should be from Hyundai/Kia. I mean, they’re famous for taking design cues from everyone and mashing them up in a new offering. This looks like a Lexus front fascia with the Camaro’s body and Saab’s favorite concept car wheels, topped off with the VW badge.
The only thing wrong is that perfectly level headded car enthusiasts actually give a damn about this amateurish sketch.
Think about it. The mainstream automaker with the worst reliability in the US is adding manufacturing capacity in the US at the exact time the market finds itself with 8 Million units of excess capacity.
If you correct for the usual concept-sketch exaggerations this looks not so much like a Camaro as a slightly facelifted Accord or (even more) Fusion. Which counts as courting the mainstream, I suppose…
Not really something wrong (I couldn’t care less about this vehicle – I’ll never be interested in a VW product), but I can’t help but notice the front bumper is one piece and monochromatic.
This means, after all that fighting and defense of the huge chrome/black snout, VW is suddenly dumping it after a single generation on the Jetta/Passat/etc. What was the point, again? They had to tell everyone it wasn’t ugly, but now they’re admitting it isn’t attractive enough to put on a coming design.
Oh, and this looks like a 10th grade art project. I believe it’s called “stock sedan no. 23.” But with a VW badge pasted on. Is this really from a major company’s best designers? It competes well with the all-new 1995 Nissan Maxima and 1996 Toyota Camry. Oh, wait, wrong decade.
Well of course it’s unrealistic. It’s just a sketch.
What’s not shown in the picture is the shoddy electrical system and the years of dreadful service you’ll get from your local VW dealer.
New Phaeton?
VAG buys GM – New Phaeton to be based on Camaro
The firing slits are too big.
I guess you use The Clapper to open the doors.
It’s a CamCordAmaro with a VW badge?
VW Camaro Sedan. Cool.
What’s a VW badge doing on one of ZZ Tops cars?
I can’t see any openings for the 25 back-up cameras necessary to see out of that thing.
It won’t be sold in the U.S.

@Chuck,
LOL!
Oh! Yeah! I wanted to add my thought that this looks Chrysler-ish and perhaps this means VW is going to buy the sheet-metal stampers from Cerberus.
VW Chargerocco GT-R??
..the fact that it seems to be zooming backwards out of the frame?
“Volkswagen – Reversing into the Future”
If they build that car, I’ll buy it. It looks cool.
But since the production version will be similar only in the number of wheels and the logo, I’ll wait to see what they come up with before deciding.
It only has 32″ of headroom, 5-series tires, and all the Volkswagen reliability we’ve come to hate.
There is apparently no method to enter or exit the vehicle.
From sketch to production in 2011? O-kay.
I have a Tesla Roadster to sell you.
What a 4-door Camaro should’ve been.
Bangle beltline, Audi headlamp frame?

I heard that Tek Jansen may drive this in his next Alpha Squad 7 adventure.
absolutely nothing.
Despair not! It will eventually look like a stretched Jetta in production.

If it only came in a 6speed/manual/diesel/awd/turbo/V8 i’d buy it.

VW couldn’t sell enough German-engineered Caravans so they’re going to try to sell German-engineered 2010 Ford Tauruses (Tauri?).
Someone accidentally put a VW logo on that Audi.
no side mirrors, plate holder, door handles, windshield wipers… and didn’t the phaeton pretty much fail already?
It looks like the Kia Forte.
1980’s Batman called, he wants the Batmobile back.
“VW Chargerocco GT-R??”
ahem…
VW S-E-X. For the Children.
…
Am I hired?

Definately the VW badge on the Dodge Concept car.
mmmmmmmmmm, gimme
hofmeister kink?

Liberals that want a Euro-trash muscle car?
Well of course it’s unrealistic. It’s just a sketch.

Kinda looks like a Volt or a Camaro.
