More than a few members of TTAC’s Best and Brightest have joined the Chrysler Listens customer advisory board. We’re starting to get some of these comms back, and they’re about as revealing as you’d imagine®. Only more so.
This message is a follow-up to our chat with Steven Landry, EVP of North American Sales, Marketing, and Mopar® Parts and Service at Chrysler:
This is a follow-up to the e-mails we sent last week regarding the Fiat® alliance. At Chrysler, we are working tirelessly with the assistance of the U.S. auto task force to continue our progress in meeting the requirements set for us by the government. At this historic time, we need every one of our Customer Advisory Board members who support our ongoing efforts to get the word out to all our local, state and federal representatives that Chrysler is a viable business on a stand-alone basis.
How Can You Help:
As you know, we want to dispel some myths that you may have heard about the Fiat® alliance. Here are some additional facts you may wish to share when talking to friends, family, neighbors or engaging online in forums, commenting on blogs, adding to your Facebook™ profile and/or participating in Twitter(SM) as well as other social media.Although these talking points are not officially “public”, as our trusted partners, we thought you might find them useful.
Our plans for a global alliance with Fiat® equals global business:
* The alliance provides consumers with a more well-rounded product line, including small and fuel-efficient vehicles.
* Most importantly, the Chrysler-Fiat® alliance increases our ability to repay the government loan sooner.
Log on to the Customer Advisory Board to continue in the Discussion on this topic. Thank you for helping us share the facts about our alliance plans over the next few days. We appreciate your support.

Shouldn’t this be under the Whiskey Tango Foxtrot heading? Or is there something I missed? I’m more confused about their “partnership” now than I was previously.
I logged on to post a snarky comment regarding the “FiatR alliance” … was glad they let us know that Fiat is a registered TM, because I was almost about to think that they were going to rebadge the Fiat 500 as the “Fiat Alliance” (I think it has been more than 20 years since the nameplate Alliance has been used by anyone, so it is up for grabs, even if it is still technically, probably still owned by Chrysler…
But, snarky comments aside, is Chrysler slipping off its frigging nut?
First, what is up with all the R, TM, SM (not, but just as well might be, S-M) being liberally plastered thruout the note, yet not applied to “Chrysler”? very curious.
Second, what is with the half-assed talking points (with only two of them, this almost merits singularity) … quais-pseudo-insider tips? Come-on Chrysler, be authentic (if you still know how), if you are going to not really try to get feedback and work with it, and honestly (if you still know how) respond to it.
If you are going to try to reverse-leverage the participants, expecting them to become banal-fact-spewing bots (limited spew, with only two points – them bots aint never gonna get warmed-up Ethel), please don’t insult them, they know the score. Be honest and stop pretending (if you still know how) to confer quasi-insider status on them, or pretend to share pseudo-“semi official” info with them, because a) if your points are not “official” here, then they should not be considerd “official” in D.C., and b) you demean yourselves with this lame exercise…
Who are the bumbleheads that are calling the shots here? Makes me think that Neve has moved to Auburn Hills…
Oh, and as I’m writing this, the photo changed from a big R, to a photo of a pile of Lineas in a lot somewhere … I’m sure there is some equally big lot somewhere just full of Sebrings … only question is which lot is full of more ugly cars … I just can’t decide … Reminds of the old joke … what would you call all those ugly Lineas dumped into the deep blue ocean? A good start.
(p.s. I assume the no-flaming rule applies to participants in this forum, and liberal flaming of disingenuous VM’s is allowed, if not heartily encouraged.)
Wow… that’s deep and informative. All my questions and concerns are now answered.
All the preamble and buildup for… nothing.
Robert.Walter, the fact that they even have Chrysler-Fiat registered as a trademark bodes well, I think.
Comeooooooooonnnnnn 500!
Sad to say it, but if ChryCo brought over/distributed the 500 untouched, I’d buy it.
After I went to the M-B dealer last night, and looked at the CLLC cars there (have to admit, I’d never have a need for it, or buy it, but I like the Commander), including the Challenger tucked away in the back corner of the showroom, I cruised over to the Fiat dealer.
Mattb, after looking at the 500 Abarth, I have to agree with you, it is a rocking little car … and the interior is really quote OK (much better than my little Brabus Smart)…
We have a week of government-paid holiday due to the slow economy … think I will go tomorrow and try to sit in these cars…
The 500 will flop just like the European sourced Saturn Astra. Detroit nevers learns from their mistakes. This thing is going to bomb big time!!!!!!!!!!
Mr Hand “Is EVERYONE ON DOPE?’
So how come this item from Reuters didn’t get any traction, so to speak, in the mainstream media?
“Chrysler, Fiat disagree over debt.”
http://www.reuters.com/article/ousiv/idUSTRE52J25320090320
Point being, Chrysler tells everyone that Fiat will take on 35 percent of Chrysler’s debt. Fiat says, “No. We’re just taking 35 percent of ownership. Not debt.”
So as I suspected all along, this deal is far from done. But Fiat wants to position themselves to be the first to get a hold of what assets might be left after Chrysler goes belly-up.
