There’s nothing wrong. It’s a promo for the E89 Z4. A man drives a Z4 that lays down different shades of paint, creating an art piece on the ground. Anything can be art. It’s what one makes of it.
The new Z4 has already won an award for design (Red Dot). Like it or not, you can’t argue that it’s an extremely cohesive design worthy of some form of merit. I think it’s a perfect evolution, and I was originally afraid that BMW would muck it up.
Is it too heavy? Maybe, but it has a new role in the lineup. It’s no longer the small, sporty little car like the E85/E86. That’s where the (possible) inclusion of the Z2 comes in. Hopefully we’ll see a new, smaller roadster in the lineup by 2012 (as news has been indicating).
Is this Art? The car or the circle work?
The car, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The circle work, same vein as the Japanese tyres that laid pink smoke when you laid into it.
Guys, follow the link in the article, pay attention. Mr. Niedermeyer isn’t late to the game, this is part of a PR / Art-cars display BMW is doing in Grand Central Terminal March 25 to April 6.
The original commercial from December.
Behind the Scenes making of it
Part of the original art done in the commercial will also be on display at this thing.
If you ever find yourself asking if something is ‘art,’ just ask the person who created it if they consider themselves an ‘artist’ (which this guy Rhode does). I myself create certain um, creations, but since I don’t consider myself an artist, it’s not ‘art.’
I guess it comes with spray nozzles in the wheel wells to paint the tires blue(or any color you wish) as you drive? Paint supply in trunk?
I feel sorry for the guy that has to clean the paint splatter from the car when they’re done with it.
Graphic, tactile, good photo…
I love it.
The pictures are pretty old.
A male driving a Z4?
I’m loving the new Z4.
I know it won’t be a good car or drive well at all, just like past Z4’s but at least I love the looks on this one.
Whaddya mean “what’s wrong with this picture”?

Actually, Edmunds and C/D have tested the car. Go look before you slam it.

Antenna is up. Was he listening to Wagner while laying tracks?
This is why they recommend that you should keep Smurfs away from busy roadways.
What’s wrong with the picture? The Z4 is sexy.
BUT I THOUGHT POST-BANGLE BIMMERS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE UGLY
He’s driving a BMW and he’s not going way too fast, flipping anyone off, or talking on a cellphone.
Yes, but he’s not using his turn signals.
Is that yellow paint on the back tires? Don’t see it on the canvas.

OMG! They are releasing carbon into the atmosphere and calling it art!
How wrongcool is that?
I’m reminded of a Bob the Builder episode.
Of course, when you’re a parent of a small child, everything reminds you of a Bob the Builder episode.
@ meefer
Ain’t that the truth!
I know it won’t be a good car or drive well at all
No you don’t.
