Across the e-transom this AM:
Both the existing Lorinser Limousine as well as the prototype of the extremely bold countenances: in particular their black coated grill makes them both “masked heroes of the autobahn”. The “bad touch” is additionally underlined on the four-door by the dark headlight caps and is expressed on the sports car prototype by the black-coated bonnet and roof. The fast duo also draw attention to themselves with a muscular front spoiler which is elongated further to the front. A colour-contrasted middle section of the bumper, the typical Lorinser gills in the fenders as well as the voluminous side sills skilfully underline the biceps of the automobile. In addition, the clearly-purist design of the basic bodywork is given interesting new optical emphases, including a firm rear, which the Lorinser rear apron forms with the diffuser. There is also a dynamic spoiler on the roof as well as something powerful for the ears: four sonorous exhaust pipes set off acoustic fireworks when you put your foot down. This power produces a tingle in the base of the stomach just like the power of the performance-improved engines from the Mercedes tuner.
They removed the ostentatious LED lights!

The new E Class is just not pretty. Something about it just strikes me as bloated but droopy. What is it with every automaker that as a new model is introduced, it has to grow in size? If the new E isn’t bigger, it damn sure looks it. And that sucks.

They took out the Fog Laps. Rightfully so…they look horrible.
The LED lamps on the redesigned S-class look better.

Agreed, I like the current series far better…it’s classic, long, lean and elegant. And if you buy a RWD model, it’s low the ground.
Usually these tuning houses take a really pretty car and make it ugly. This is making an ugly car…..well uglier. Didn’t think that was possible. Makes the 5-series almost palatable.
I don’t get it when it comes to Mercedes and BMW styling. They are all boring to ugly-boring to me. What am I missing? I truly do wish I could see what makes others excited about them. One exception for me was the BMW M1, whose body design was outsourced to Lamborghini as I recall.
I thought we all know that Bangle worked for Benz during the design phase of W212. Fortunately we were spared the droopy sideskirts a la BMW (Z through 7).
