Gee, I guess that means that future Chryslers will be assembled with Elmer’s glue and run on batteries. Wonder how many AA’s per mile? Perhaps they’ll have a hybrid running on rechargeable NiCads.
Gee, I was wondering who would “win” this coveted position. Congratulations, Bob. I guess.
I presume that he is Old/Bad Chrysler’s chairman. What exactly is it that he is supposed to do? I guess his job will be to collect checks while the company (or what’s left of it after the multiple organ donations) shrivels and dies. The more official-sounding answer is that he will manage the company through the bankruptcy process.
It must have been the government pension plan that attracted him. Maybe his U.S. government pension plan will vest immediately, and then he’ll become eligible for the Italian governmental pension system. Double-dipping! Sweet!
is this guy a henderson to a wagoner?
Muckety and TheyRule are really fun ways to indulge your inner conspiracy theorist, aren’t they?
Surely you jest.
Well, at least they got a car guy and not a bean counter………oh nevermind.
I have heard reports that Sergio Marchionne was going to replace Nardelli. I considered that to be Chrysler’s only hope…..
I hope this guy doesn’t expect to make the same money as last year ($200 million)… Never mind, he’ll probably get more.
Radical comb over.
Dang I was hoping that they would interview for that job. I was looking forward to a few million dollars, a new Chrysler, and a cushy job. Sigh…………………
Per Chrysler’s Blog “Chrysler LLC today announced that C. Robert Kidder, former Chairman of Borden Chemical Inc. and of Duracell International Inc., will become Chairman of Chrysler Group LLC, once it completes its acquisition of the operating assets of Chrysler LLC and completes a global alliance with Fiat SpA. He will succeed Robert L. Nardelli.”
why is he former chairman? Didn’t Duracell have issues? I shouldn’t complain, Nardelli is a flaming effin idiot.
Do you suppose his employment contract is payable in unmarked 10s & 20s?
I used to work for Borden when Kidder was CEO of the parent company, before they started busting it up and selling it off piece of piece. The difference was everyone knew that was what was going on – he did not really try to sugar-coat it.
His Duracell and Borden chairmanships were a result of them being owned by KKR (Kohlberg, Kravis, and Roberts), of whom he worked for. KKR is a nicer version of Cerebus.
Anyways, Kidder was pretty well regarded by most employees. I felt as an employee I was fairly treated while he was at the helm.
Funny thing, I worked weekends for Home Depot when Nardelli was there too – he was universally disliked by the rank and file there too.
Who is more insane? This poor bastard or the whacked-out sales manager at the ChryCo store in NJ?
Kidder? – surely you jest….
I notice Nardelli’s sugar-daddy Jack Welch has been whining about how Obama treated his protege.
Bob got the boot.
Presently it doesn’t look like Kidder will be CEO, but just Board Chairman. Nardelli has both roles.
Generally I think a company is better served when the CEO and Board Chair are two different people.
Jack Welch is, IMO part of the problem with the past thirty years of American Management.
Margo ?

Thread winner! (Sorry; a ‘forum term’).
Finally, an answer to the question: “What about Bob?”
