The daily podcasts keep coming, as Farago and Niedermeyer learn that the Chrysler Sebring replacement is screwed, Bob Lutz should keep quiet and that the Germans care about our energy independence. Plus the usual daily reminder that this is a car website.

Somebody needs to mute their Blackberry when the recording starts.

As for the Zune, they sent you one because they can’t sell any.

And where the heck did the phrase “buff books” come from?

TTAC is the first place I’ve heard/read it.

When I hear “buff book”, I think cleaning supply catalog.

It’s the Chrysler execs who are apparently making that argument.

And where the heck did the phrase “buff books” come from?

Not sure where the phrase originates. It’s a term for mainstream car mags.

Yo Chuck! Zune are like Diesel VWs…they’re everywhere, they’re just unobtrusive…doing what they do quietly and very well……

Ah I had wondered why the Impala still existed, let alone purchased, over the Malibu. Then again being as I’m not an obese American (apparently I’m in the minority here), the narrowness of the Malibu didn’t bother me.

Entomology is the study of insects, Etymology, the study of words and origins.

Vorenus and Edward Niedermeyer, I think “buff books” came about because of the link to cleaning supplies that automobile aficionados have (if you have a really sweet ride, you just rub it down all day, hence ‘buff’-ing), or is that where all their advertising $$$ comes from (in the back of the book)? Though I cannot say who in the world ever coined the phrase.
