Ah I had wondered why the Impala still existed, let alone purchased, over the Malibu. Then again being as I’m not an obese American (apparently I’m in the minority here), the narrowness of the Malibu didn’t bother me.

Vorenus and Edward Niedermeyer, I think “buff books” came about because of the link to cleaning supplies that automobile aficionados have (if you have a really sweet ride, you just rub it down all day, hence ‘buff’-ing), or is that where all their advertising $$$ comes from (in the back of the book)? Though I cannot say who in the world ever coined the phrase.
