The truth is, as I’ve said all along, I have no ambition to run an auto company. I’m not the salesman-in-chief. And GM will rise or fall on the quality of its products — like the taut, athletic design of the new Buick Enclave. Its French-seamed leather and warm wood tones make the Enclave more than transportation. It’s a modern driver’s retreat.

—President Barack Obama at the Television and Radio Correspondents Dinner shortly after unveiling his Oprah-inspired “car company giveaway.”

    Literally.

Man I really starting to hate that guy. And if the Secret Service is listening, well, calm down.

But hey if he’s giving away cars, my address is:

    12345 Taxpayer Lane
    Bank Account Falls, MN
USA (not to be confused w/ the Chinese city)

    cnpota,
I thought you would be concerned that they would mistake your town for Frostbite Falls, MN.

  • avatar

Nah. More concerned it might be confused with its sister city Portfolio Falls, NM.

You do know he was making fun of himself, right?

I thought the best part of the show was comedian John Hodgman on whether Obama is a geek or jock.

You guys! It was COMEDY… You know like jokes and stuff… So many tin foil hats and so little time.

Did you take him literally when he said his daughters took Air Force 1 for a joy ride or when he said that Hilary tried to give him Swine Flu?

Whatever you think of him, he’s got good comic timing.

Quite frankly, not so smart to be joking at all about his new Government Motors which only exists due to raiding the taxpayers wallet now and forever.

At least we all knew that Ricardo was an actor who was paid to pitch a car from a company that could at least pay its debt back by a guy named Lido who cared to be profitable and not in control by the gov’t

With Obama and GM, both clearly don’t understand how to use a basic calculator nor understand how to earn business in an open marketplace

Jeez – you right-wingers are up-tight. Obama’s a pretty hilarious guy. Regarding the bail-out of GM – it would simply be political suicide to just kill of a company of that size, or rather, with that number of employees and suppliers. Not difficult to figure out.

So, you have figured it all out already?

Well no worries then, I’d guess.
Obama does really know what he’s doing and the country’s future is in the right hands.

    Yeah, right…

So, you have figured it all out already?

Yes, it is easy to figure out… Obama is simply implementing Bush’s plan. And the plan is working.

    No worries. Indeed!

    Unleashed –

Well, I am not commenting on whether it is a good idea or not. But I am just pointing out that it would be complete political suicide for an elected politician to do nothing. Ans as CamaroKid points out, the previous president started the ball.

In an ideal world, something different would probably have happened, namely that GM would have changed or died out much earlier.

Geek vs Jock? Heck, I just wish he were a leader…but we all knew he wasn’t when 52.5% of us elected him. He’s never had to make a hiring or firing decision (where the buck stops with him) his entire life, yet we thought he was qualfied to lead the free world because he was young and cool. He can’t even speak without a prepared speech.

Nobody’s laughing…we are too busy hoping he can learn on the job…
