I can’t remember the song or the hair band of the ’80’s that made it but I’m kind of partial to it. My mommies euro 911 SC was the “drug dealers” car in the video.
Beach Boys – Fun, Fun, Fun. Yeah, it’s cliche but how can you not like the collision between Glee club and Chuck Berry.
Honourable mention to Grace Jones’ Pull Up To The Bumper. Vulgar, eminently danceable with Sly and Robbie and star of so many an F-tape back in the day. Sigh.
I’m almost ashamed to admit it, but Kazzer’s Petal to the Metal is actually really good. The song is catchy and video has a decent amount of car porn in it.
Having grown up on ’80s hair bands, I will also have to say Whitesnake’s “Here I go Again” will always stick out in my mind. Sexy chick on sexy car is always a nice combo.
What? No mention of the band and the car that started it all?
ZZ Top and the Eliminator. In the ’80s, the blues-rock legends featured the band’s new icon: a cherry-red 1933 Ford Coupe hot rod in several videos including “Gimme All Your Lovin\'”, “Legs”, Sharp Dressed Man” and “Sleeping Bag”.
“End of the Line” by Stan is pretty cool. Opens with a 600 Grosser; video looks road warrior-ish. Strange buses, ugly little East European death traps.
The Tragically Hip – Locked In The Trunk of a Car (1966 Chrysler 300 4-door sedan, only available in Canada)
Behind – Lacquer (1966 Chrysler convertible, all stop-motion video while driven across the US)
B52s – Love Shack (1965 Chrysler convertible, as big as a whale, and it’s about to set sail)
Blue Oyster Cult – Burnin’ For You (1966 Chrysler New Yorker 4-door hardtop; the one that gets torched at the end is actually a 1965 Chrysler Newport sedan)
Not huge fan of his music, but Jamiroquai’s Cosmic Girl video is pretty tough to beat. All that’s missing are the damn engine sounds (tidbit at the end). Stupid bastard.
Whitesnake with Tawny Kitaen was certainly a memorable video for me as a young teenage boy at the time.
ZZ Top and the Eliminator car definitely had the better car, of course.
If you want to mention the Beach boys, which somebody did, “409” or “Shut Down” definitely beat Fun, Fun, Fun in my book. “409” is probably my favorite song by them.
I’ve never seen the video, but somedays, I do like to crank the stereo way up and listen to “Thunderkiss 65” by White Zombie.
Ministry’s classic, “Jesus Built My Hot Rod.”
End of discussion.
The Cardigans – My Favourite Game
It’s Hard To Be Cool In A Minivan – Oak Ridge Boys
Soundgarden- Rusty Cage. It has a truck.
Jamiroquai – Cosmic Girl
Cake – Going the Distance
This:
Rocky IV- “No Easy Way Out” (featuring the Lamborghini Jalpa)
What paul_y said!
Jesus Built my hotrod
And Ministry is becoming classic………30yrs
Had to add to the discussion.
I don’t think I can top the example given.
Whitesnake: “Here I Go Again”
Tawny Kitaen + Jaguar = Whoa! (It’s better if you think of the “Whoa!” in a Beavis and Butthead voice.)
“Stop” by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Sammy Hagar – “I Can’t Drive 55”
Depeche Mode: Dream On
WAR – Low Rider
Too easy, “Cars” by Gary Numan
While “Jesus Built My Hotrod” is a given (and a good one at that), I think George Harrison’s “Faster” is definitely worthy of mention.
I’ll second the Tawny Kitaen mention. One of the few times I’ve ever wanted to be a car.
Radar Love?
Audioslave – Show Me How To Live (basically Vanishing Point in 5 mins)
I can’t remember the song or the hair band of the ’80’s that made it but I’m kind of partial to it. My mommies euro 911 SC was the “drug dealers” car in the video.
+1 for Tawny Kitaen.
Butthole Surfers – Ulcer Breakout.
Beach Boys – Fun, Fun, Fun. Yeah, it’s cliche but how can you not like the collision between Glee club and Chuck Berry.

‘Crazy’ by Aerosmith is a pretty rubbish song but the video’s got Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler in it.
Check out the director’s cut:
Oh, there’s a Mustang in there too somewhere…
Radiohead – Karma Police
Having grown up on ’80s hair bands, I will also have to say Whitesnake’s “Here I go Again” will always stick out in my mind. Sexy chick on sexy car is always a nice combo.
audioslave-show me how to live
white zombie-thunderkiss 65
metallica-give me fuel
three six mafia-ridin spinners!

Car realted music video is difficult, there are just so many…how about car related songs?
Geggy Tah – Whoever you are

and of course:
Kraftwerk – Autobahn
George Thorogood
“Ride on Josephine”
Rush – Red Barchetta
A compilation of car ads from the 1980s remixed with 21st century disco music.
I simply love the beauty, rythm and charm of this video.
“Drive She Said” by Stan Ridgeway
“End of the Line” by Stan is pretty cool. Opens with a 600 Grosser; video looks road warrior-ish. Strange buses, ugly little East European death traps.

Depeche Mode, Wrong, inventive use of a Crown Vic:
Lerxst: Good call on Red Barchetta! Classic Rush at their zenith.
Sajeev: “Dream on” with the Lincoln Mark IV is great! Makes me wanna drive my ’72!
….George Thorogood’s “Gear Jammer”
…”In The Air Tonight” as used during the driving scene in Miami Vice
…and another vote for Tawny Kitaen and Whitesnake !
Go With The Flow, by Queens Of The Stone Age

Makes Tawny look pretty tame. :)
Lerxst,
Here’s a bootleg of Red Barchetta I shot with my phone in Montreal on the 2008 leg of Snakes and Arrows tour.

white zombie-thunderkiss 65
Oh, yes, right, I forgot about Mr. Zombie. Add “Dragula” to my vote.
And the entire track list of My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult’s “Hit & Run Holiday”
What?! I’m stunned. Nobody has mentioned Meatloaf’s “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.”
Screaming Blue Messiahs – Twin Cadillac Valentine
Coming over the Westway in a 350 SS Camaro.
