We have run out of patience. We have been calm so far, listened diligently and made comments, but that is over now. If nothing changes from General Motors’ side by the end of this week, then we will be active, and there will definitely be spectacular measures from us.

Opel Work Council (Labor Union) Boss Klaus Franz glowering on German radio (via Automotive News [sub]). Meanwhile, anonymous GM sources tell the Financial Times that “Germany have expressed interest in having Magna, but there might be other [financing] sources. This is what we are currently exploring.” It doesn’t sound like anyone is anticipating peace for our time.

“there will definitely be spectacular measures from us.”

Working with out pay they will build cars that are absolutely perfect in half the time it used to take.

Well, that would be different wouldn’t it?

Same old GM.. No guts / No glory…

The GM CFO should build a spreadsheet. Cost to keep it running as a part of GM, cost to shut it down, cost to sell it.

    GM has zero “extra cash”…

So which ever is cheaper they do immediately… One spreadsheet, one meeting.

I’m actually ready to give this one to GM…..

They’ve finally realized that that politicians are pretty much spineless jellyfish – abet jellyfish with access to other people’s money. The German government does not care who owns Opel, they only want to mitigate any short term job losses.

So, GM has figured out that if they’re ready to give Magna a billion or so Euro’s then why not just skip the whole sell the company and take the cash for themselves.

Whoever owns Opel this time next year will be conducting massive layoffs – might as well be GM.

That’s it, GM. Having aggravated past customers, taxpayers, HEY! THIS IS SO MUCH FUN! Who else can we aggravate! Let’s try the whole world!

Yes, its the old GM again (still). And then they wonder why nobody wants to get anywhere close to “their kind”.

GM will not sell Opel….bet the farm. They probably never had any intentions of selling Opel in the first place. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

GM needs Opel. If GM can drag it long enough maybe a miracle happens and they will have the cash to not sell Opel. That is what they are hoping for
