As far as the 7-passenger crossover ute is concerned…can you say “Audi Q7”? It’s on the same platform as the Touraeg.
give us the New Microbus. That WOULD stand out.
You know what would stand out? A Passat that neither looked dweeby, nor was decontented for ugly Americans. Something like a CC that can carry five passengers in a pinch and doesn’t cost an unconscionable fortune with the uprated motor.
Hey VW!
How about bringing over some of those ultra-efficient small motors from Europe? The 2.5 has been a self-inflicted gunshot wound for VW in the USA. Why not bring back the 1.9 TDI? How about the Polo? Where is that Bus your promised way back when… you know the one that IS NOT made by Chrysler? Whoever has been running your north American show should be sacked and replaced with somebody with some vision, as they have PROVEN themselves unable to get the job done.

Well, at least the 2010 Golf TDI is coming. We’ll see how many model years that lasts. I hope to buy a used one in a couple years because I refuse to pay $23000 for a 4 door Golf. The Polo as a choice sure would be nice! Stupid VWoA, always with their head up their ass…

From what I’ve read, VW is looking for a larger, softer car to replace the Passat. Something like a Buick, I guess. On the other hand, they’ve been talking the talk about getting a handle on their sometimes less than popular dealers, and questionable past quality. If they can walk THAT walk things will be different. At the same time, I hope they do not abandon GTI inspired cars. I don’t want a Wolfsburg edition Buick, but a Blue-sport TDI just might be the ticket.

I’m with you on the 2.5 liter engine. Seems like a toe in the water at de-contenting for the U.S. market.
Well, they could replace the Passat with a VW-ified version of the Skoda Superb – got all the space for the US market and is a really, really nice car in its own right, while generally being cheaper than a Passat and offering higher reliability.
I’m all-interested in a 3 row, diesel/turbo-diesel, mazda5 size (or slightly larger, but not much) 4 cyl with a base interior and a 5/6 speed manual/auto for $20’s base price. Option it up to 28 or so.
The mazda5 gets 22/28
You’d figure something the same size in diesel should be able to do 26/34, no?
I’d be in like slim.
Bonus points if it can tow 3000 pounds.
