Does GM have some sort of exclusive agreemnt with Goodyear on these or will we see this improving Prius performance, too? I’m betting that Goodyear put significant investment into this and doesn’t want to sell only 10K sets of tires in 2011.
And how much will this tread compound cost? If it’s an extra 10%, maybe $40 on a set of tires for the car, that’s not too bad. You’d probably break-even, more or less, extra tire cost vs saved fuel, even at $2.50/gallon. However, if these tires are twice the price… don’t bother.

WHEN it comes to market?
Goodyears fuelmax tires are already out. My brother put them on his car and got a 10% bump in fuel economy from it.
