Odd car. Those cheap looking lower-grade-tsw-knock-off wheels I don’t understand.
Eh, not bad, but IMO the SLR McLaren was a much better looking car. I’m not overly enamored with the original Mercedes gullwing either though, so maybe that is it.
It has the proportions of a TVR. I think it looks good…

Herr Maltzahn was so impressed that he was waxing lyrics in an otherwise simple-minded publication. Here is a somewhat better translation:

As for the car, I pretty happy with the way it looks. I just hope it’s faster than the SLR.
Such cars, being as expensive as they are, have to be breathtakingly beautiful, and nobody would sincerely say that this one is.
It is not ugly or offensive, but neither is your average Kia that costs 3% of this one.
It reminds one of the old gullwings, of course, but it does not have their strong character lines. (or those of a 911 or most Ferraris).
BTW, The SLR McLaren was uglier and more out of proportion, a freakmobile.
Bertel – Is ‘shaped like a sin’ a common German idiom? I figured that bit in the original post was babelfish’s doing.
Absolutely stunning. Just amazing. I now have a second “supercar I give a damn about” after the Audi R8.
I wonder if they’ll produce a roadster version?
Is it just me or does that front end look like an ultra-wide RX8 with GTR headlamps?

Not that the two are identical, the Z8 was more retro-styled but was probably not as fancy tech-wise. Understandable, since it arrived several years ago.
Bertel: It’s Austrian ancestry, and it was checked at the door in favor of Babelfish’s hilarious poetic license. Your translation is, of course, far more accurate… just not quite as side-splittingly funny!
Here’s the thing – I am 25. Upwardly motivational, not prone to conspicuous consumption. I am not a gangsta, a playa, nor do I own any silver spoons.
And this car hits ALL the right buttons. I would still prefer the original mule, just because it has a level of bad-assery that few cars in the last 20 years approach, but I want one of these. In black or silver, maybe even white. K Plz THx!

I like it. Great engine, weight is not too much, it might be a bit cheaper then the competition, and its supposedely has great driving dynamics. The looks are exciting and sexy from some angles and pretty unusual from others. Interesting car.

Bertel – Is ’shaped like a sin’ a common German idiom? No. The writer is getting very lyrical. I have no idea how sins are shaped. I could think of shapes that could entice me to become a sinner. Well, at least we no know that sins have gullwings. And if you crash the thing, it will be a mortal sin….

That’s what you get from Babelfish: babble. That’s what you will get from any “machine translation” tool: babble. This is so because “translation” involves “understanding” and a machine won’t and can’t “understand” anything.
Regarding the car: I’m completely fed up with these supposed-to-be-cute retro designs. The original 300SL was a car derived from a competition car and was meant for the rich who where able to drive such a car. This idiotic concept is meant for rich and old people. Hopefully, they offer “wheelchair”, “rheumatism” or “handicapped” options so that their target group can enjoy it. Kotz & Würg.

It’s really quite embarrassing when Germans gush-even over a car. Where is your dignity?
After the Alfa 8C (by a lot), maybe the Granturismo (by a little).
I don’t think it’s beautiful, but it’s cool. I would rather see round headlights. I think BMW did the retro take off of an old model better with the Z8.
I never thought that Mercedes would stoop to doing a retro car. It must be great for period movie makers. One of these, a mini, a Fiat Bambino, a Camaro and a Challenger and it could be anything from 1950 to 1970.
You are better off buying an original 300sl. It’s value will only increase, and it’s likely more fun to drive.
