Nice – it’s amazing how some competition can motivate the boffins in Stuttgart. Understated appearance, Ferrari performance and 20MPGs – not a bad combo.
Half the readers here will appreciate the new turbo for what it is. The other half will huff and puff indignantly that the engine is in the wrong place, complain about reliability and service costs, make a disparaging comment about VW and/or Ferdinand Piech, and conclude that it would be much better if it were only made in Japan and sold for half the price.
How many Porsche Turbo owners have the ability to drive it more than 10% of its ability? I would be more fun to drive an entry-level Cayman to 70% of its ability than a turbo at 10% (with cash left over for a few other cars).
Is it just me, or does it sound like he took his English lessons from Christopher Walken?
@Tosh The translation of PS (Pferdestärke, German power measurement) is literally translated as “horse strength,” so in that regard, I wouldn’t say he is being too non-German.
Can you just imagine that drivetrain in a Cayman?

Hopefully the North American version will get the same restrained Euro-spec DRLs, not the current craptastic bling.
Why can this suit make an utterly exhilarating car go 0-boring in 3.6 seconds?

Twotone
He’s mixing systems of units (horsepower and Newton-meters), which isn’t typical German efficiency. Who is that for?
Paddle-shifters…THANK YOU JESUS. Those buttons on the wheel from previous versions were completely retarded.
