    Too bad it’s ugly…

Seems like a nice ride otherwise.

Odd… the guy that can afford a $100k+ Panamera can also afford a couple other cars to “carry four people”

I really like this car and plan to buy a pre-owned example after a few years of depreciation brings them down to my price range.

I can afford a $100k car, and I have other cars that can carry four people.
But I have a 3 car garage. One stall is for the wife’s SUV, one is for kids toys and my motorcycles. I have a f150 crewcab that sits outside. I need a car to replace my Vette, I can’t drive it to work everyday since I need to be able to take out clients with little notice. I also don’t want to have to drive the truck everyday, it is a nice truck, but I bought it for the utility and for very snowy days. A car like this is perfect, except it is ugly. Hello CTS-V!

Lots of awesome vintage and current Porsches in this commercial, but the fat-ass Cayenne was conspicuously absent…

Between that and the Panamera, is Porsche afraid that Ferry is ‘spinning in his grave’ about what has happened to the ‘family tree’?

Ferry should haunt their asses until they create an under 3000lb, under $35K honest to God entry-level Porsche that would atone for the overweight, overpriced doctorlawyertraderposer-mobiles they have made in his name.

    The tree’s getting a little top-heavy.

I went through the video slowly and there’s no Cayenne shown amongst many other more obscure Porsche models.

I guess you can’t say you don’t compromise while simultaneously admitting you created an SUV.

Spot the fat girl in the family photo.

    sfdennis1 & schellenberg:

At 0:18, there is a Cayenne (black or charcoal) in the scene. They certainly don’t show it with any pride.

    These will sell.

My father has an older 911 (964 Targa) that he drives 6 months a year. He just bought a Cayenne for the other six months. If the Panamera was ready he’d have bought that instead. There are plenty of people who think the same way he does. It’s definitely not a compromise.

    @doch

you’re right…a ‘blink and you’ll miss it’ shot of a Cayenne at 0:18. Still say they need to get cracking on a lightweight, H.O./turbo 4cyl $35K speedster to atone for all the German dumplings they’ve been serving up lately.

Sports car for 4? That’s a stretch. Considering the Panera weighs 1200 lbs more than my RX-8. :) As a Porschephile I creamed over that commerical though.

    Mmmmm. Porsche porn.

Even the one with the big bootie is kinda hot.

Oh, I get it. The Panamera is the ugly stick.

Great commercial though. Some fantastic cars.

Every family, even the most distinguished, has someone…we all know how it is…the relatives were always polite in public, but always seemed a bit embarrassed; and, in private, if the truth was told, no one was really very happy. But, hey, even Teddy was a Kennedy, so he had that going for him.

somebody please make this car go away…

(and what?? nobody referenced they could afford an S-class in this price territory?)

It has a certain appeal. Kinda like the homely girl who puts out.

I am definitely in the minority, I think the Panamera is uber heißes und uber reizvolles (uber hot and uber sexy)

I can’t wait to see and hear one on the road.

I like big butts and I can not lie
    You other brothers can’t deny
That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist
And a round thing in your face
    You get sprung
    Wanna pull up tough
Cuz you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the jeans she’s wearing
    I’m hooked and I can’t stop staring
Oh, baby I wanna get with ya
    And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
    But that butt you got
    Make Me so horney
    Ooh, rump of smooth skin
You say you wanna get in my benz
Well use me use me cuz you aint that average groupy

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Considering that Porsche, and largely Volkswagen can trace their origins back to socialism, and to Nazi Germany, the whole purpose of those cars was to be accessible by everyone. I don’t know how many people have sat in a Porsche, but those that have, can say the same as me: it’s overpriced. The build quality leaves allot to be desired. Your average Toyota Camry has better plastics inside.

That being said, Ferry Porsche wasn’t looking for the car of his dreams. Instead, he was running his dad’s company, while his dad was rotting in prison in France, being accused of war crimes (you know killing hundreds of thousand of jewish people, gypsies, and other nationalities). Because I have family that suffered during world war two from because of the Nazi oppression, I made a promise to myself never to buy a German car. I’d rather buy domestic or anything else. But enough with my little rant.

I’m not just talking here, so everything that I’ve said can be checked on Wikipedia, or history books.

As for the Panamera, just like every other Porsche, it’s overpriced for what it is. Not only is it ugly, but I bet that it’s made of the same cheap plastics inside, just like every other Porsche. And those engines are sourced from VW and Audi, so why pay a premium?

I thought the Panamera was revolting the first time I saw it. Now I’m afraid to admit how much it’s grown on me. I’ve started thinking of it as a 4-door successor to the 928.

But speaking of big butts … a new X6 pulled up beside me in traffic today. It’s the first one I’ve seen in person … and I’d be happy if it was the last. Unlike Sir Mix-A-Lot, I’m not that big a fan of huge asses!

“The first true sports car for four”?

I do believe the Quattroporte beat you to the punch there without looking like a zeppelin, Porsche. Too recent? Well, how about an AMG Merc or an M5 or an RS6? Better yet, how about non-fantasy cars like the pre-CVT Maxima and G8 GXP? I can go on…

“The first true sports car for four”?

Maybe they could change that line to “The most expensive sporty hatchback, ever!”
