How spurious is this one? Let me count the ways. First of all, it’s an Auto Express illustration, which makes it pretty spurious to begin with. Second, it’s of a possible (and unrumored) CUV designed on the Volt Chassis. and Third, it’s based on the Opel/Vauxhall version of the Volt, the Ampera…. and there’s no guarantee that GM will share the Volt platform with its independence-craving European division. Still, it’s worth a shared giggle between consenting adults.

That looks like it would have been a nice Pontiac.
Ummm,
In case you forgot… That was the WHOLE problem with PONTIAC!
They sold unmitigated GARBAGE!
Ya had the sporty version of the Cobalt, Aveo and Equinox.. and the Montana.
NTM, the dead on arrival Solstice *cough*SKY*cough*
Ya could argue how nice the G8 was… but the interior is something thats just completely lacking.
But in the end…
Pontiac itself had too much competition.
Can you say SS from Chevy to start with…
Nothing! European version, no problem. They will sell like crazy. When do I get my dividend?
Lately nearly everything coming out of GM is spurious. Selling Saturn, nope. Selling Opel, no again. And now the Saab deal falls through:

So some magazine does a little Photoshop daydreaming and this qualifies it for as GM vaporware? Get a grip on yourselves.
I would drive the wheels off of that thing.
Ugh…it’s the spawn of Aztek.
That thing is hideous. It looks like a Sony “sports” boombox from the 90s.
-ted
So if it’s based on the Ampera, is this the Ohm? (as in Ohm my God, that’s ugly) Or the Joule? (as in Joule want to take a sledgehammer to it!)
That was just bad. I can’t possibly go on.
I’ve always thought the Opel Ampera’s front end looked better than the Volt.
Totally. The Chevy brand “face” prevents the Volt from looking like a car from the future. Ampera looks like something new and different.
The cheapest version of this platform (Volt) would sell for $40k, so this might go for what, $50k in Europe? Yeah, I love renderings.
So they could sell it for Euro 30k . Euro 35k is what the arket would bear so a nice little moneyspinner for GM in Europe. Definitely would kick the Prius of the number one spot in Holland. Problem with the lease market is that Chevrolet(Daewoo) doesn’t have the Lease market contacts yet so they would definitely need Opel to sell them
I like how the roof rails are curved to the point that they’re essentially useless.
Ugh…it’s the spawn of Aztek.
Now you know… Spawn of Aztek would make a helluva name for a band.
After seeing all the brazilian inventions like: Palio Adventure, Idea Adventure, VW Crossover, Ecosport and some others… I have already been vaccinated. I think it would sell well there, and here, seeing that people also liked the concept of a fake SUV/Crossover/Offroad vehicle.
Doesn’t look that bad. I kinda like it.
The thought of taking a fragile econobox Volt offroad is hilarious. Remember the leaking batteries that prompted them to recall all their “Mild hybrids”? EPA would have a field day with this.
Yes Spawn of Aztec would be a feaking awesome name for a band.
That actually kind of looks like a Kuga with an Opel badge.
Those two longitudinal roof rack devices do not count towards the presence of tail fins.
The masses clamor for tail fins.
And perhaps some holes in the aft front fender area.
And Dagwoods upon the front bumper.
Dagmars. Not Dagwoods, Dagmars. Totally different.

Finally, GM has an answer for the Dodge Caliber!
Why is everyone knocking a third party rendering of a vehicle that doesn’t exist yet? This isn’t news other than to say there might be a CUV that uses the volt powertrain.
