Here’s a shout-out to Dave Skinner, who recognized the Jeep’s under-seat gas tank. And to all of you seventeen loyal fans of CC Clue, have no fear; we will forge ahead. Well, we did stop giving hints a while back, and it probably won’t help a lot if I tell you that today’s mystery car is younger than the Jeep. Have fun.

All I know is that we need to get a fine, extra soft toothbrush for those creases asap!
I was thinking the same thing! Nice, shiny paint ruined by disgusting garbage in the little creases surrounding whatever piece of molding/trim that is.
Oregon Moss.
Oddly, all I see is Paul’s fingers and camera!
What exactly is this Oregon moss? I think it’s been mentioned before on TTAC, but I’m not sure where. It’s very… gross looking. It would make me insane to have it on my ride.
Gen. 1 Prius
Side marker / ‘air intake/exhaust’ for a BMW M3 or M5 (2001 or newer)
vroom vroom
Maybe a Trans Am hood scoop…
A “Buick” hole…
Olds Silhouette?
Here’s my WAG, 1st generation JDM Prius…….
2001-2003 US market Toyota prius.
All the pics I got of 1st gen Prius in US I couldn’t make out the vent…. but seeing as I’m not there and haven’t seen a US spec I’ll take your word for it. We see a few JDM ones down here.
I was trying to post the &%@&ing comment for some time, but the software didn’t let me log in.
First generation (I’m in the US) Prius +1.
Is that battery acid leaking out around the vent?
Looks like a Gen 1 Toyota Prius. That’s the cooling vent for the hybrid battery. I used to have one, and it looked like that.
It’s funny that a hybrid car is being referred to as a “classic”! But, they were discontinued 7 years ago, so I guess that qualifies.
The dust looks like the stuff that was gathering on Taughm Magliozzi’s old MG, but that grill work looks like it was substituted for the taillight on a ’59 Chevy, except not quite… I don’t know, maybe it’s the back of a frigidaire.
Looks like a hood vent on a ’94 Mustang.
I was thinking Mustang also, but is that CC material? Seeing Paul’s reflection in the picture, I’m pretty sure he’s not holding his head at an unusual angle.
The hood scoop on the ’94-95 Mustang GTs and Cobras was actually functional; having perferations that allowed excess heat to escape the 5.0L underneath through a creative tunneling system.
The paint is too nice to be an early Prius. WAG….a Merkur from the late ’80s?
If this wasn’t a car site I’d say it looks like the front of an Alienware desktop computer
I just figured it out. It’s a kitchen vent from a ’50s ranch house
If it’s an American car from between 1955-65, I’ll eat my hat.
subaru?
1997-1999 Oldsmobile. Probably an 88. Could be a 98. Probably not the Silhouette because the bumper curves too early.
To me it screams Olds Aurora, but that’s hardly a classic.
Some kind of Porsche?
Tiburon?
Definitely 1st Gen Prius.
95 Aurora….
1st gen (US) Prius. C-pillar air extractor.
I looked on Craiglist at first generation Priuses and 94 Mustangs, and don’t think it’s either of those. This effort has not helped me to figure out what it is though.
I don’t believe it to be a Mustang or a Prius, and I am almost certain its not a Olds. It could be a 2003 Corvette or maybe an MR2? But I am not sure, all I know is that it looks cheap to me.
