Lets get back to some grilling. Here’s a nice set of bars, but are they actually metal? Tuesday’s Datsun 510 was picked up by ktm; congratulations. I know that at least one of you faithful CCCluers noticed tha the Datsun I used in the story didn’t jive to the Clue. Just another way to throw you off the scent. Wait a minute; that doesn’t make sense. It’s been a long day. Happy Cluing!

Cougar, and I don’t mean an unattached older lady.
What Joe said
Yup, first generation Cougar. Seems like a weird choice when we just had a classic Mustang. It would be like doing seperate CC on each of the W platform cars from GM. (Of course the big difference being that it would take weeks to do that.)
’73 Olds 88
cougarific!
I don’t think it’s a gen 1 Cougar. I believe the Cougar grill goes back in at the bottom, rather than jutting out a little as in the picture.
I’m thinking Olds, but not a Cutlass. Maybe a Delta 88, but I can’t really pin it down.
I thought 1967 or 1968 Cougar but I’m not sold. Maybe it’s an optical illusion but the Cougar grill has a raised style whereas the picture looks raised on the top and recessed on the bottom. Plus the slats on the picture look closer together than the Cougar and I think you’d see chrome instead of paint at the bottom where the bumper overlaps. No, not sold at all.
Cutlass waterfall grill.
I also thought “Cougar” when I saw the pic. Not sure what year. Maybe a ’72?
I think the Olds waterfall grille had a bigger kick out at the bottom.
It’s definitely not a pre-74 Cougar.
I own a 67, and know the first-gen Cougars very well………
Olds Cutlass circa 1976
Early 80’s Chrysler Imperial
Doesn’t look Cougary to me…I’ll go with 70-something Oldsmobile.
Olds Omega 1974
I’m thinking it could even be a Mercury Bobcat.
Darn it! You beat me to it. 1975 Bobcat. I owned one of these!
Ditto, but we had the ’74 woodgrained wagon with the egg-crate grille. Great car; still cross Pops sold it, oh well.
Volga! :)
Definitely a Bobcat. 1975? They came out in ’74 with the Pinto, right? But the question is: is it a wagon or a hatch?
75 was the first year for the Bobcat, and the Pinto debuted in 71.
Mercury — “……at the sign of the cat”.
Cougar, Bobcat, Lynx…….
That does look like a Mercury Bobcat. The grille doesn’t appear to have changed from 1975-78, so don’t know how to nail down the year any further.
I thought it might be an Olds, but research confirms: I’m almost positive it’s a Bobcat.
Absolutely a Bobcat, circa 1975-78…just looked it up in my American Car Spotter’s bible.
Hm, I came in all confident, then the comments guessing “Cougar” had me cock my eybrow. It might indeed be a Cougar, but I want to say AMC Javelin. What the heck.
Wait! Not Javelin… which frikkin’ AMC am I thinking of? I’m picturing it by the name isn’t coming to me…
I withdraw my guess temporarily.
I am down for the first gen Coog.
73 Olds Delta 88 is my guess.
Definitely one of the pre Slantnose’d bobcats. 1975-ish.
I’m pleading for half a point for getting the brand right.
