We all hoped/thought that Tron was a relic left to the distant 80’s acid trips, but Audi has decided to bring it back again. Shown at the Frankfurt motor show their e-tron concept looks strangely close to production to me. Supposedly debuting two years from now as a 2012 production model buyers willing to fork out huge sums of cash will be treated to more than 3,300 ft-lbs of torque and 313hp, for no doubt very limited distances between charges.

The wheels look inspired by Norelco
It they’re part of a production car, I hope they have a self-cleaning option.
Agreed on the wheels. I found “turbines” rather odd in the 70s. Don’t look any better to me now, but that’s one of those subjective things.
Like so many show cars, looks great.
Like so many show rides, the question is always what’s it gonna look like sobered up in the morning, with no makeup?
3,300 footpounds of torque? That would be a good runner on Pinks All Out. Yeehaw!
That would equate to about a 500 rpm redline, unless the torque drastically drops off at higher rpms (unlikely for an electric motor…)
Another ditto on the wheels! But throw a V6 in it and I’ll take it.
Oh boy…cleaning those Norelco wheels is going to be a great joy.
Better start stocking up on old toothbrushes right about now.
Hot, hot, hot, especially in that colour.
I’d swap out the wheels, though. Put something on with chrome and powder spray orange to match the car.
Be prepared, when street racing, to stop and charge every quarter-mile.
I am completely put off by this car.
Ok fine..
Orange +
Ok Fine its fantastically expensive ++
And yes.. its got a Remington / Norelco grill… not so fine -+
And.. they took away a chief styling element.. the blades, (one big reason why the car looked so good) to do this.
Im just.. agast.
I get all happy about the Audi R10 concept.. and then I see this —
Awful!
Is this Audi’s car for idiots?
