According to Jalopnik, this license plate belongs to Morgan Stanley Vice-Chairman Rob Kindler, who apparently thought this kind of joke is funny. Too bad he missed bonus points by failing to put the plate on an Escalade.

it might be real. According to the NY DMV site, this combination is not available for personalized plates, presumably because it has been issued already.

That’s New Country’s plate-holder . . . exactly what I follow to work every day going 30mph in a 35 . . . it’s usually an S though.

It’s real, not photoshopped. Kindler told Andrew Ross Sorkin, author of the excellent book Too Big To Fail, that he had the plate made as a reminder that no one should be too big to fail and that Wall Street’s actions have consequences. So, he doesn’t think it’s a joke and he’s not being arrogant.
I might believe he doesn’t think of that as a joke, if I saw that plate on a Cavalier. or a Chevette. But when you couple that statement with a $100,000 Porsche…

Pick up the book and look at the pictures in the middle. I think it’s on the last page of the pictures section, though I don’t have my copy handy to say for sure, or to quote the caption underneath. It’s a great book, BTW. The lack of leadership or concern for the broader consequences of the financial industry’s behaviors the book chronicles will make you sick to your stomach. But it’s very well researched, sourced and written.
