I sooooooooooooooooo want to borrow that sucker and park it next to the guy in my town that drives a beige FJ with a deep fording scoop he’ll never use, winch (ditto), and plastered with Irish Republican Army stickers.
Guess Toyta isn’t the “next GM” maybe?
Wasn’t it Samuel Clemens that said “Rumors of my death are greatly overstated”?
Ditto Toyota.
Bunter
They shouldn’t be the next GM, but they sure made bad choices (and wasted money) WRT to Scion and Tundra.
The Tundra is not a waste of time in the strategic sense. Pickup trucks are a valuable niche in North America, and it’s worth Toyota’s time to accept short-term losses in order to realize long-term gains. The current Tundra is a competitive truck that got Toyota a lot of new buyers, and it stands to get them more, especially given that Chrysler and GM badly gutted their R&D departments since (during?) the last Ram and GMT releases.
This Tundra was, give or take, about as good as the GMT900s. The next one? It’ll be interesting to see.
Scion, though, was a lost opportunity, though for somewhat different reasons than, say, Saturn or Saab were.
The way I see it, Toyota voluntarily rolled back production for 2009. Between that and no one wanting gas guzzlers last year makes the numbers right about even with 2008, if the supply was available. Toyota’s planning themselves ate the weenie on this one. I will forgive them since they were not aware of the C4C program in time.
Incredible for this group. Five comments and not one yet about the girl?!
