Hyundai is leaking this rendering of their i-Flow concept ahead of next month’s Geneva Motor Show. In the cycle of car shows, this looks like one not to miss. Periodically, Hyundai shows something new that is spot-on. Additional leakage available for downloading on the i-Pad.

Damn! Is that ever a good looking car. It just made the new Jag look old. Forget Callum, hitch your wagon to a rising-star … find-out who is leading Hyundai-design and interview him. Oh, and by the way, when is Ford going to fire J Mays??
I like the split A-pillar too.
GM…this should be Volt! Find some designers with vision.
Why don’t they just get it over with and eliminate the side windows entirely?
Is this supposed to be in the X6 Venza Crosstour category of bloated cars that aren’t useful. Or is the real intention to prove that you don’t need visibility to drive because you are texting and you aren’t going to look anyway.
European D-Class; Ford Mondeo, Passat, Opel Insignia. Re-skinned Sonata for Europe, I presume.

This could get a bit messy. Looks rather svelte, but let us just hope it doesn’t feel too bloated.

I bet it is only available in figure-trimming colours, and definitely not in white.

Hyundai’s really sacking up lately – they’re using their increasing market share and profits to introduce exciting cars, much like the big 3 in the post-war era. Bring it on!
That said, this beauty will need a Google Street-View camera system to navigate city streets.
So that cool looking strake down the side wastes about 3 inches per side of shoulder room.
The door mirrors have fallen off.
You won’t be fitting snowchains to those tires. Well, you can, but the fenders will be modified fairly rapidly.
Looks like you might be able to get a fingernail underneath those door handles.

Greg, have you thought about the possibility that the wheels are 22-inch diameter and this vehicle is actually much larger than we might think it is?
Anyway, I’m looking for excuses to get this thing built, some how, some way.
And I want a six-speed manual gear box coupled with an advanced direct injected V6 engine — something my new Mazda 6 should have as an option, but doesn’t.
Otherwise, I wouldn’t really need so badly to own a production version of this Hyundai concept car.
Another sexy concept that will look quite different if it ever reaches production. Many of the above comments about visibility, tires, mirrors, etc. are spot-on.
That said, it does appear that Hyundai has finally made those trademark Korean body curves into something tasteful and interesting. Their newer products actually have quite a nice side profile, and it looks like future generations will get even better.
Looks like cab-forward is back! If that means slab-sided is out, I’m on board, if tastefully done. And unlike most of GM’s concepts from the past 20 years, Hyundai might actually stay somewhat faithful to the design.
This was designed by Joel Piaskowski the designer that gave us the Buick Lucerne. He left GM several years ago to join Hyundai.

It looks as baroque and heavy handed as any 73 Monte Carlo. And Acura gets pounded for it’s styling ?
Regardless, I would have to see more pictures of it to actually appreciate it. But if it’s anything as overdone as the new Sonata I am not expecting much improvement. And I think the trunk [or hood]line cutting into the profile is tacky on any car: BMW, Toyota, Nissan.
BTW: can the promoters and ad men come up with another color besides silver for the publicity shots and media blitzes?
…and don’t forget the tunnel vision effect that gives.
I’d be very surprised if the production version of [the 2014 Euro Sonata??!] has any of the hood and trunk lines because of those ped safety laws. Going by the new Sonata, the side strakes and roofline might just remain.
Acura could probably benefit from some baroque and heavy-handed styling. What they have now is best described as a lack of styling, unless one considers “Tonka Toy” a valid theme.
The reason Joel Piaskowski left GM was probably because he could not do designs like this. The putz always stopped him.
Nice looking concept, has a fresh distinctive design. If Hyundai actually markets something along these lines I’m sure it would sell well.
Glad to see a car manufacturer taking some styling risks. However, kind of looks like there are some Chrysler cab forward and a Pontiac Firebird genes in the family. I look forward to seeing if Joel Piaskowski and Hyundai can translate i-Flow into a more reserved and practical sedan.

Love the sculptured shoulder lines…and the Sonataish rear tail lights. Hate the chopped forward edge of the rear C pillar and the split A pillar. If Hyundai could carry the sculptured lines into production this car would be a stunner.
I really like how Hyundai was able to do that with the Sonata…but the front end got a bit uglier between concept and production. The grill and nose got more prominent and the headlights overstylized into the sides of the car. The original looked more like a Genesis.

This is a DRAWING of a car, not a PHOTOGRAPH. Like in those Pontiac ads that were recently discussed in TTAC, the DRAWING exaggerates certain proportions. I love that C-pillar and the whole rear end. The trick A-pillar would be a deal breaker for me.
