Don’t forget the incentives!
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/gm-still-leading-the-incentive-race/
So how many of Hyundai’s Elantra and Kia’s Forte sales were fleet related? I know I’ve seen a few Forte sedans in our on site rental facility’s fleet.
Hyundai also had substantial incentives and Elantra sales, but they don’t disclose fleet information (gee, I wonder why??)
Rockit, it seems to me I never see you comment on any non-Hyundai related topics. I read articles on TTAC all the time about various manufacturers. But I never see your username. But anytime there’s one piece about Hyundai sales or even just a photocopied sales figures sheet, you’re here…commenting on and on about Hyundai fleet sales. The comments are more often negative than otherwise.
I’m just curious. Do you have something against this company? The attention these days is focused on Toyota whom you extolled a month back on another thread.
– I have posted comments on non Hyundai stories so your statement is totally false.
– It doesn’t matter that Toyota is having a very difficult period. I am asking questions or making statements that relate to the post, in this case questioning Hyundai, which seems to be a bad thing for some reason…maybe people are not allowed to question the current media’s sweetheart?
I am not a fanboy of Toyota (I never extolled them, NO idea what you are talking about) or anyone.
Is there a problem still?
I’ll say it yet again: Rockit, you need some fresh material. The bit about Hyundai fleet sales was old a long time ago.
It’s still the truth and a fact so I will keep on saying it.
Wait….your the guy with a new Sonata that tows a small trailer or something?
I know I found myself with a sudden unrelenting urge to purchase a HHR in January, but luckily was able to fight it off.
You’re calling the 2010 Golf the Rabbit, right? For continuity’s sake?
As much as many will disagree, the newer Cobalts these days seem more rock solid than usual. Occasionally I hear people ragging on its less-than-stylish design, but who cares?
NHSTA has opened up an investigation into complaints about Cobalt power steering failure. I pulled this from the action summary:
NHTSA Action Number : PE10005
N/A NHTSA Recall Campaign Number : N/A
Make / Models : Model/Build Years:
CHEVROLET / COBALT 2005-2009
CHEVROLET / COBALT SS 2008-2009
Manufacturer : GENERAL MOTORS CORP.
Component : STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM
Date Investigation Opened : January 27, 2010
Date Investigation Closed : Open
Summary:
ODI HAS RECEIVED 1,132 COMPLAINTS ALLEGING SUDDEN LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES. MOST OF THE COMPLAINTS (754) HAVE BEEN RECEIVED IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS. APPROXIMATELY 10 PERCENT OF THE COMPLAINTS ALLEGE THAT THE LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST RESULTED IN DIFFICULTLY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE, SUCH AS DEPARTING FROM THE DESIRED TRAVEL LANE. ELEVEN COMPLAINTS ALLEGE THAT THE SUDDEN INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT CAUSED BY THE ALLEGED DEFECT RESULTED IN A CRASH, WITH ONE ALLEGING AN INJURY. A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HAS BEEN OPENED TO ASSESS THE FREQUENCY, SCOPE AND SAFETY CONSEQUENCES OF THE ALLEGED DEFECT IN THE SUBJECT VEHICLES.
Whoa, looks like pedal repairs aren’t the only items on the list of to-dos.
You mean the JTEKT (a subsidiary of Toyota) supplied electric power steering systems that are used on the Cobalt/G5/HHR/Equinox/Sky/Vue/Torrent?
The company that GM is currently in litigation with to pay for the ‘extra’ warranty work caused by failing units they didn’t design.
BTW, the company also supplies EPS systems for Corolla/Matrix/Vibe/RAV4/Venza/RX350.
Touche! Game, set, match.
Holy crap, who’s suddenly buying all those HHRs? Are those a big fleet buy item?
There’s a panel van version. It would be wise of Chrysler ….errr Fiat to have some sort of Panel van model for the next gen PT Cruiser.
Clearly, the rental companies can’t find their full supply of PT Cruisers to satify their retro styled compact jones.
Ya know..
Ya can go onto NHTSA.com and subscribe to alerts about any vehicle… when they happen.
I am not surprised GM sold a lot of compacts. I know the Cruze is coming and a new Aveo isn’t far behind. I am pretty sure the HHR goes when the Cobalt does. Probably using fleets to move the metal they are trying to get rid of.
5,452 HHRs vs 641 PT Cruisers…talk about getting your thunder stolen. Well, I guess it’s a case of thunder being given away.
Umm… you do know it’s the last year for the PT Cruiser, right? They’re not exactly trying.
Umm, yes, I did know. My point being that I think that if they had refreshed the PT Cruiser at some point it could still be 5,000 PT Cruisers.
Then again, as I said in another thread the Journey seems to be doing well so maybe it will pick up the slack at some point.
I don’t think Scion is long for the world, especially if their volume-xB is selling in those quantities.
The Scion volume vehicle was always the tC. You know – the one that hasn’t been redesigned since the target demographic was in 8th grade?
The xB is the attention-getting flagship…the numbers were never near the tC’s.
…even if they were four times what they are now. SO TOYOTA HOW’S THAT REDESIGN WORKING OUT FOR YOU
I sometimes think the most beneficial thing Scion could do to save itself is re-release the original xB, in five new colors, otherwise unchanged.
When the Jeep Compass (which I like) outsells the Rabbit 2:1, VW really ought to be rethinking their delusions of grandeur for US sales.
What is the source for this info? No Nissan Sentra?
Amazing that even after LaHood’s smear job,
Toyota Corolla is still number one. Have the american public became more difficult to bullshit?…
Maybe premature conclusion. As the thug said, he ain’t “done with Toyota yet”…maybe a “60 minutes” episode is in the making…
Cobalt and HHR – two distinct models sharing virtually no sheetmetal.
Elantra and Elantra Touring – two distinct models sharing virtually no sheetmetal.
Corolla and Matrix – two distinct models sharing virtually no sheetmetal.
Split up the numbers, Toyota.
