Does anyone have an iPad? Hyundai’s clean-up on aisle six Concept proves that all the sales momentum in the world can’t prevent the occasional tone-deaf design study. Or an unfortunately hilarious nomenclature. Given the recent improvements in Hyundai’s production car styling, the i-flow concept is something of a look back to the wild “emotion lines” of its late 90s design work. In short, not a step forward. Meanwhile, despite achieving true originality in its ugliness, the i-flow also manages to incorporate the same weird sedan-hatch-coupe packaging as the Opel Flextreme, Mercedes F800 Style, and Subaru Hybrid Tourer. Back to the drawing board!

iflow? More like “My i’s! My i’s”.
Backwash is the word that comes to mind. It almost….. almost …. out uglies the Mazda 3…..

Looks like it’s been in a front-end collision.
Twotone
My thoughts exactly. The front 1/4 angle with the door open really looks like it’s been wrecked.
I like it! It’s different, and probably a little over the top, but in general I like it quite a bit.
Did anybody else just see that, or did someone put LSD in my office water cooler?
Did somebody put a couple of the body parts on inside-out?
It’s one of those vehicles that only looks good from one angle – the angle of departure.
I agreed with you…
and then I saw the angle of departure. Image 8. I think it’s supposed to be a dragon, but it looks like a lizard coughing something up: likely its sense of dignity.
Actually I was referring to one’s angle of departure as in what you see when you turn and run away from this hideous beast.
Maybe if you left in the Tucson sun for a day, those overwrought creases would soften and it wouldn’t look so bad…

I had forgotten the second cut at the Tiburon. Didn’t that car have more lighting elements than any other vehicle in history? By comparison, this isn’t too bad.
Mind you, the third-gen Tibby puts this to shame.
Things like this make me believe that there’s a design team who are convinced that nobody is really paying attention, so they crank out this to prove it.
Apart from the front-end being a bit confused , and the bonnet being too short , this is a seriously good-looking concept.Nicer than anything BMW have done this century.
I don’t know if I fully comprehended the joke until I re-read the title of the blog. Bravo. It is the brutal truth (which sometimes I don’t like reading) and Varsity League humor that makes me a nearly daily reader. Not quite as striking as the flying VJ stylistic comparison but just a funny and more subtle. Thank you.
This is what happens when Hyundai tells it’s designers to quit copying and do something original.
Not for me.
Are there any pictures of the car BEFORE the crash test?
That was my first reaction.
I could see buying this if you all ready own a current generation Acura and want something to park next to it that will make the Acura look good.
It’s as if the clay model melted in the studio and they figured….thats looks great!

Don’t get cocky, Hyundai! Now – if you could make the front doors slide the way the back doors do, then you’d have my interest.
This car looks like they read the Euro pedestrian safety requirements and then proceeded to violate all of them in order.
