Motorvehicle production in Japan was up 25.9 percent from a year earlier in June, says the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association via The Nikkei [sub] Domestic sales are a bit more sedate, up 17.4 percent in June. Where did all those cars go?
They were exported. Exports increased 38.7 percent on year in June, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association is quoted in a separate story in The Nikkei [sub]. While Japanese manufacturers gripe about the strong yen, it does not seem to impair their exports.-
In the six months ended June, exports from Japan totaled 2.32 million vehicles, up 62 percent.
From January to June period, overall auto production in Japan rose 45.8 percent to 4.84 million vehicles.

Next question: WHERE are they exporting them TO? Are they selling the Kei cars in India or something? I imagine the smaller cars are going all over SE Asia, with the Prius coming here, and the Corolla going to Australia, but what’s the bigger/est market for Japanes exports?
I think it’s America but China is coming from behind.
