China’s quality regulator has ordered the recall of 875 imported C30 vehicles. What’s wrong with the car? Nothing.
The owner’s manual of the C30 model, produced by Volvo between November 9, 2009 and February 5, 2010 has an error, reports Gasgoo. This inexcusable lapse of quality control causes “the driver to be unaware of the operating function of the sunroof as well as some safety precautions.” Owners will receive a new manual for free. The unsold 2010 C30 vehicles will have their owner’s manuals swapped at the dealers.

Really? Sending them something in the mail would not have accomplished this?
There have been recalls in North America for the same (eg, the window-flap airbag stickers, manual misprints, etc).
Meanwhile, there are all sorts of mechanical problems that never see a recall because they’re not a safety issue
This is why recalls are not a good mechanism for determining quality. This doesn’t, of course, stop the likes of Autoblog from posting recalls because they’re still good for page hits.
My MAzda6 was recalled to reflash the ECM. Evidently it would allow the emissions to stray to far out of spec before illuminating the CEL. Hardly what I would consider to be a safety issue, though I’m sure others would say that kind of thinking destroys the environment.
My C30 doesn’t have a sunroof.
I guess I really dodged a bullet there, huh?
I love the C30 and wish I could afford one. Then again, I’m old enough to remember when its inspirational ancestor was just a car.
But you’ve still got a C30 so not really
Why the C30 hate?
You don’t know my vehicle ownership history, my usage of this particular ride nor the details of how I acquired it.
So again, why the insult?
Recalls usually happen for two broad reasons:
1) safety (leading to death, or property damage),
2) compliance (you f/u the environment with out of calibration engines, or wrong manuals or labelling ((which, combined with ignorant misuse, can lead to a case-1 scenario))).

PeriSoft, you forgot “HAVE A HAPPY EVERYDAY!”
Last week I found Shanghai misprinted on an Expo sign, but I’m still searching for a misprint of China itself.
I was dropped by the grocery store the other day and out in front a new Chinese restaurant that has opened in the same shopping center had a bunch of hand written signs offering ‘Chinaese food’ and ‘Shsui’. They’d bothered to cross out Shsui on one of them and write ‘Sushi’ underneath, but left it alone on the others, and hadn’t bothered to correct ‘Chinaese’.
And just to share, this is one of the more amusing, though possibly NSFW, bits of Engrish I have seen.
“Hit the Hard” would be a fantastic album name – though the corresponding phrase would be a bit tough to swallow as the moniker of the band itself.
Vietnames and intentional:

I’ve actually eaten there. Not bad, but not particularly memorable.
