Where would we be without our breakfast cereal, fresh from the  Chinese rumor mill? Two days ago, we wrote that Suzuki, Volkswagen, and SAIC are rumored to be working on a three-way tie-up. “Not so,” says SAIC according to Gasgoo. They denied a rumor that was spread by the competition at Suzuki’s Chinese partner Changan Auto.

Suzuki Motor likewise denied any three-way dalliances. A Volkswagen China spokesman said he had never heard of the matter. Which can mean anything.

Suzuki has been in talks with several Chinese firms for creating a new local venture to supplement the existing one with Changan. What is interesting is that the rumor was placed by a Changan source. Apparently, they are not too happy that Suzuki is on the prowl. A Suzuki-Volkswagen-SAIC tie-up would make eminent sense in China. Don’t let the denial discourage you. It’s part of the game in China.

Middle Kingdom has no lock on this; it’s part of the game everywhere…

Too bad for Changan. The fact that they’re using Suzuki motors instead of Daewoo is helping keep them afloat against their competitors (because, honestly, the cars themselves are crap), and if Suzy pull sout, goodbye competitive advantage.

If I’d been drinking milk when I saw the picture, it would have been spurting out of both nostrils and through my tear-ducts. Bertel, shame on you for suggesting octogenerians have lesbian ambitions!
