The first rule of blog relations: don’t let the blogs know that you have a blog relations program. The second rule of blog relations: bloggers are children. Use reverse psychology. BMW did… and look, it just worked! Anyway, if meta-irony isn’t your thing, feel free to to never mind the bollocks and simply speculate about this forthcoming BMW concept. Giant wheels, a tiny exhaust… what could those wacky Bavarians be up to?

It must be the new 4-series. Filling a much-needed gap in the product line-up. BMW’s answer to Porsche’s Cayman Convertible !
I don’t know…note the lack of the BMW logo. This is probably MINI’s next addition. Price wise of course it will slot in between the 1 series ($29k) and the 3 series($33k) (its a niche market…those who want to spend right around $31.5k base).
You’re thinking Cayenne convertible b/c that’s where the volume is
Who else needs $120K drop-tip SAV which can go 0-60 in 4 secs?
Yuck!
With the new CAFE rules destined to turn the B segment into the next standard sized car, this might be the new upscale Corolla.
Ed; for a couple of hours there, I thought you weren’t going to fall for this. Shame!
At least the last time BMW tried something like this, it was very funny:

Not this time.
BTW, this is a mildly disguised mule for the upcoming car based on the Efficient Dynamics concept. Electric motors at each end, a battery pack down the middle, and a 1.5 liter diesel. BMW’s Volt, in other words.
I think Ed’s still on a Bimmer high after his recent acquisition and is still very susceptible to their kool-aid. Give him a week or so to get to a new normal.
The narrow (195 mm wide) tires and small exhaust agree with your assessment that it’s a Volt competitor.
Less like their Volt and more like their answer the the 911 hybrid. I’d secretly hoped they’d actually put that wild Efficient Dynamics showcar into production, but never dreamed they actually would!
