Wow; I finally stumped the B&B! Well, I think it has happened before, but it’s been quite a while. The VW 412’s rear ventilation vent was too esoteric to trigger any memories. Or maybe former 411/412 owners have just suppressed their memories all too well. Ok, this is going to be a lot easier, probably way too easy. That’s ok too. Revel in your quick and ready answers!

Air intake on a nash metropolitan
I’m stumped, not even a guess. I’ve even turned my lap top on its side, and upside down. That and I’ve missed most of the first half of MNF. I give up.
My guess would be a late 1990’s Mercury Sable. Possibly a wagon.
I’ve seen this grille/scoop before and it is driving me crazy. I want to say one of those rear-engined European micro cars from the 60’s. Something like a Hillman Imp, but I know that isn’t it.
Based on the color, I’d say 1956 Subaru WRX :-)
I’d pay good money for a 1956 car with a 200+ hp turbo boxer four! :D
The molding around the base makes it seem like an accessory item. My guess is it is a vent for a 1950’s trunk mounted air conditioner. Can’t find any that look like it though.
I am in agreement with SOF in training. My guess would be a 1957 Cadillac Series 75 limousine.
I agree. Late ’50’s Caddy Coupe- or Sedan-deVille with a/c.
I’ll follow the path blazed by SOF in training and SilverCOupe, but go with 1955 Cadillac, such as this Coupe de Ville:

Shucks; already nailed. I would’ve guessed a 1960s Hydrodyne: :-)

Bingo! I should have searched harder. Great find!
The vent was apparently used for several years – possibly from the introduction of Air Conditioning in the Cadillac in 1953 through 1963.

Wow. Didn’t think it would be that long.
I haven’t checked your pics, but the rear mounted air conditioners I remember were more upright and abrupt than the shown example. The color screams Dick Teague or Virgil Exner, though.
Bugger! I would have said 1950’s ashtray…
1956 Cadillac a/c intake.
I’m stumped, but it does have the vague feel of the 1954-55 Kaiser. Nicely stylized curves.
Kaiser Darrin?
Hopefully I’m not too late.
