Did you miss today’s meetup? Located somewhere else in the country? Are you interested in meeting a sensitive Scorpio? Want a ride around a racetrack? Are you furious about a particular article and want to confront the author directly? If the answer to any of these questions is “Yes”, then take a moment to take a look at my schedule for May and early June.
May 7-8 SCCA National Solo Tour – Atlanta Motor Speedway
May 14-15 Testing 2011 Mustang V6 Performance Package – Summit Point Raceway, Shenandoah Circuit
June 3-4 24 Hours Of LeMons – MSR Houston
June 10-11 NASA Midwest Regional – Grattan Raceway, Michigan
The night of May 7, I may be looking to return to Fogo de Chao, hopefully without the public drunkenness and waitress-pinching which marred my previous visits. (Apologies to Steven Lang.) Why not come along and listen to me spin patently untrue tales of murder, seduction, thievery, and texting while driving? I should be in a rare mood, as I expect to finish DFL in a very competitive class.
On May 14 and 15, I will be offering rides in the Mustang V6 Performance Package around the Shenandoah circuit, which features a mini-Carousel and a mini-mini-Corkscrew. First come first served. I also have room for one more student on those days, register on TrackDAZE and put my name in the comments line.
Any volunteer crew willing to work either of the June events will receive some special token of my appreciation, which could include cash and/or priceless garbage from an auto show.
I’m looking forward to meeting/re-meeting/being punched by YOU!

Sorry, I’m a Gemini with a dual nature to my personality who already has his hands full with a fiesty Libra. Besides my first wife was a Scorpio and we know how that worked out… Wait what were we talking about? Oh yeah…
Dang looking at that schedule I wish I could make the Mustang event, I will read that article word for word several times once you punch it up for TTAC, Jack. Wish I could ride along so I could find out what a Performance Pack Pony can really do.
Bah! 99 is my number.

Long time listener, two time caller. I would like very much to come to the Shenandoah Circuit event and experience a go around on the track. I live in the DMV area so it should be too much of a haul to get up there on a Saturday. As someone who is just starting to learn all thing auto (read: Fresh Meat) and is interested in the V6 Mustang but hasn’t been around a track I think I’d like to go.
If you don’t feel like dealing with a n00b no worries, but I’m very interested.
You really don’t want me in your race car unless you want to hose it out after my inner ear and high G forces have their usual disagreement. Karesh had to stop three times on the way home from the Volt press event because I let him and our esteemed ed, Ed, talk me into doing some laps in a go kart.
I’ll definitely be at Lemons in June. What type of volunteer work were you thinking of? :P
Jack’s driving on my team – we’ll have only four drivers, so any help with fueling, tire changes and general pit-stop stuff would be great. We have one low profile jack, but a second would be welcome.
You’ll need a full firesuit, including helmet, if you want to help with fueling. If you just want to come on over and hang out, that’s welcome too.
It’s the #70 TetanusNeon. We generally snag a pit spot across the lane from the hot pits near the track in, in front of the fancy-pants garage spaces. Look for the paddock flying the BeerMountain and Texas flags.
Jack, I thought you were going to formally announce your street racing minivan series.
That would be epic. Spec minivans FTW!
On May 14-15 at the Summit Point main circuit is vintage racing in the guise of the venerable Jefferson 500, http://www.jefferson500.org/ .
I’ll be there, so if I can pull myself away from the Lolas, Alfas, Aston Martins, etc I’ll wander over to the Shenandoah Circuit and give Jack a piece of my mind (what little is left of it).
Would love to go to the detroit one, but unfortunately it’s anniversary weekend with the wife….Other than that, nothing is close (Chicago).
Even more unfortunately the MI one seems to be only about 60 miles from Muskegon. It would have given me a great reason to take lake-express with the motorcycle onboard.
I can clear up my schedule to entertain you in June. That’s if you still need volunteer in Houston.
Jack – I hope you’ll get out to Infineon or Laguna sometime soon and let us know before you do so. We’ve got NASA events and some decent Porsche club events where I’m sure you’d be welcomed…
Jack, are you going to be at Heartland Park anytime this summer? I live a couple counties away and could make a trip out there.
Hi Jim – it’s Joel. Lmk when you head out to HPT. Check out the HPT website for their Wed track days – run from 1 pm til dusk but can still register later in the day til 5 pm. Lots of track time!
Jack – what? No Putnam Park event? I’ve been improving my racecraft and times now and want a rematch!
I’ll be in the intermediate group at Shenandoah on the 14/15th. I don’t think you want to instruct in my death trap of a Honda though. I’ll definitely stop by and say hi. I’ll be there with my cousin who’s doing his first track day in a 335i with too much power. Should be fun.
I could be convinced to make the trip out to Summit. In fact, I might even sign up. I’ve actually got my Miata in a safe state, with working shocks and summer tires… and as of tonight, a decent alignment. And I really want to see that VEEEE SIX.
Wow sounds cool. If you need help in Houston in July, I’d be happy to help.
Jack,
You should try to make a ChumpCar race also, then you could compare the relative levels of shuffle steer between the two race series and settle the debate over supremacy once and for all!
I did chumpcar last year at Texas Motor Speedway. It’s a really great organization and racing was a blast.
Obviously, as implied in my question, that’s my take on it also. I find ChumpCar to be much better racing, though that citrus series is a great party!
If you’re going to be at Wakins Glen this summer, my offer for motion simulator time still stands. We’re only 20 minutes from the track.
No Stafford Springs or NHIS? Bummer.
I will be contacting everyone in the next day or two… thanks!
One of the craziest things about Fogo de Chão is that even though it’s a Brazilian Stakehouse, there are more units in the US than here back home. It’s great though. Jack, order yourself Picanha com alho (which I think translates to garlic sirloin) and Fraldinha (don’t know the translation) as rare as possible and go for some shots of cachaça, preferrably Anísio Santiago or Havana. Enjoy!
as rare as possible…
Ah there’s a man who knows how to enjoy red meat
It is conceivable I could make the Summit Point event. If fighting a speeding ticket does not interfere with my visiting my sister in Virginia for several weeks in May.
