With a Mercedes-Benz taking the overall win, it only seemed fitting for another Mercedes-Benz to get the top prize: the Index of Effluency.
The B League Film Society’s 1967 Mercedes-Benz 200 suffered from many electrical and fuel-system problems yesterday, but ran more or less reliably today. In the end, its 28th-place finish (out of 43 entries) was enough to grab IOE glory. It’s worth noting that the W110 finished higher than the car with the quickest lap of the race (the Assmasters Mustang II). Congratulations, B League Film Society!

Sir! I have a plan…

This stuff is hilarious, too bad we didn’t have races like this when I grew up in the 60’s. Probably because cars in this bad of shape were the cars that were our daily drivers!
I miss the 50s and 60s cars for form only. Their function was abysmal judged by modern standards.
Hell yeah! I love this car so much.
Assmasters woulda done better if I didn’t get black flagged for their 30+ year old taillight wiring shorting out…and making me even more of a threat to my fellow racers.
Aww, quit your bellyaching. How did the taillight wiring in that 44-year-old Benz hold up?
Granted, for a 30-year-old Mustang to get fastest lap, they probably did more work to that car that might have affected the wiring’s reliability than the old fintail endured, but that’s just insignificant detail. ;-)
Only thing that car’s missing is my avatar plastered on its left rear quarter panel. :)
+++++1! Ha ha ha! Love it!
