* including Daihatsu and Hino
- Honda and Toyota hit most
- Nissan more than makes up as small Japanese loss with overseas production
- Production abroad does not save you if it is fed from Japan

What is the “change” in comparison to? May 2010?
Thanks.
Nissan may be doing allright in numbers, but they are digging themselves a deep hole with all that cheap overseas outsourcing. Mercedes lost a billion+ in warranty repairs alone when they had their 95-2002 quality slip.
Nissan is not so robust IMO. And now they produce tons of junk.
So I’d bet on Toyota, Honda and other proper “Made in Japan” names in the longer run.
My local mega-Toyota/Scion dealer has been looking very lean lately, with what seemed like a bias towards trucks. So I checked, and here’s all they have in new inventory:
4Runner (2)
Avalon (1)
Camry (14)
Camry Hybrid (1)
Corolla (6)
FJ Cruiser (2)
Highlander (5)
Prius (1)
RAV4 (17)
Sienna (6)
Tacoma (5)
tC (1)
Tundra 4WD Truck (11)
Venza (3)
xD (1)
Yaris (7)
That’s right: TWO new Scions in stock, and no xBs. And ONE lonely Prius.
This is it, at a dealer on a major road occupying nearly 7 acres of property. Scary times for them, I’m sure.
